zappa883
I'm in need of some more SPL and was hoping for some ideas from all the knowledge here. I'm thinking I'd likely have to ditch the 905 to get any more power so what do you all suggest ???
moray james
What? Sorry I could not hear you the stereo is too loud. If your 905 has outputs you could buy any number of 250 - 500 watt per channel pro stereo amps that ought to get the job done and not have you risking amps clipping. Probably the least expensive way to go. Anything that can output 250 watts into 8 ohms and at least half as much more into 4 ohms should be rock solid. Try some out in stereo and see what you think sound wise.Best regards Moray James.
willland
Don't ditch an awesome receiver like that. Just add this and it will give you added spl's with no problem and a thump in the low and midbass that even your mighty 905's amps can't do. I absolutely love my Acurus A250 with my RF-63's. A ton of quality power for very little $$$. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstran&1328487184&/Acurus-A250- Bill
Moderators Youthman Posted December 13, 2011 Moderators Share Posted December 13, 2011 I don't think the answer is another receiver but instead, as mentioned, adding a powerhouse amp would provide you with what you are looking for.
Quiet_Hollow
I'm in need of some more SPL.. ...and you've got KLF's hitched to a 905. If you can't cut you're own head off with combination, with subs no-less, something's gotta be amiss. How big is your room for starters? bigTbarker
I think I would start with a re cap of the x-overs given the age of your speakers. If you haven't already. Not hard to do with BIG results.18 to 20 years, their done.Caps degrade so slowly you don't realize it until you change them. Cool thing about your setup you don't need a huge amp,but not saying bigger is bad.
russ69
I'm in need of some more SPL Yeah, get a real big boy stereo amp for the fronts and don't cheap out, get one that busts your gut when you lift it. You will not believe how much power and weight it will add to your system, even at low volumes.
