garyeanderson
I am a thrifty person at heart and probably didn't need this pair but edroom posted a link in alerts in July 2010 and I put a bid in. I got them home for $500 and a trip to the other side of Boston. Initially bought as "parts", I squinted hard and then hooked them up to a receiver that I had picked up at the take it or leave it recycle center. All drivers worked and it didn't sound half bad sitting in my kitchen. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/137373.aspx My living room had it's corners filled up and much of the rest of it too so they ended up getting a quick sanding with the Hitachi DA sander and brought into the house. They sat in the kitchen for a couple days and I finally got tired of slipping by them and on a Sunday morning pushed them up the stairs into my bedroom. They were played and generally just enjoyed for a time. Winter came around and before it had set in I had bought some plywood that had been stored for a number of years in a quonsit hut at a cabinet shop in Rhode Island. I had a friend of mine help me doing the cutting and enclosed the backs with a tscm style of enclosure. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/142576/1453824.aspx#1453824 $40 bought enough plywood to do the enclosed backs and a pair of cornwall clones. I just finished with the second pair of cornwall clone bass bass bins so they are hiding the fronts of the budget Khorrns at the moment. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/147639.aspx?PageIndex=1 The tops have been pulled off to either rebuild or new build (leaning towardrebuild due to the budget nature of these) but I got involved in clearing upthe second pair of cornwall clones project so with the tops off, they needed tobe replaced with something so up came the peavey tops (MFX-1) and I installedthe K55 drivers, The high frequency is a bit deficient at the moment as I friedone of the K77 s and didn't have a replacement so I just have the Belle centerin mono giving the over ~ 5000 Hz. Every time I see some in the garage sale Ithink I would rather eat for a week than to replace it at the moment. To behonest I like the Peavey tops a lot more than I expected, they have a muchbetter off axis sound and the "sweet spot" seems much wider. This isa picture from late December, the lascala clones are aimed into the corner andthe sides are being used as an extension of the tscm sides. I don't claim tohave great ears, tinnitus is a real drag at times but to me it sounds prettygood. I guess that’s the important part, isn't it? JJkizak
When you start fixing the plywood on those K-horns make sure there ain't no critters in there left over from the flood. JJK
Coytee
Is that a CR-2010? Looks familar but then... all the Yammie's had a similar look. I had a 2010 and later swapped it out for a 2040 which I still have.

Top to bottom in the previous photo Pioneer A80 - Belle Center Yamaha CR-1020 Khorns Pioneer A9 - this was $80 and it powers both cornwall and lascala clone bass bins, I really don't know why I haven't tosted it yet (smile). I bought them all from the same guy. Center and right in this photo

JJK Both Khorn bins have been re-glued and filled, no buzz or other apparent problems at any volume and I have tried them all. I guess thats how the K77 tweeter was blown, I thought the AA crossovers were supposed to protect them (big smile). http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/142576.aspx?PageIndex=2repair shown http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/storage/6/1552565/before%20and%20after%20bottom%20edge%20repair.JPG
