HornEd
As a veteran spending Memorial Day in a mountain valley beyond email... I want to take time out to join my fellow Forum members in quiet remembrance of our comrades who laid down their lives that we might enjoy the simple freedoms of this weekend. And, in our salute to patriots gone before us, let us not forget our beloved and recently departed Col. Paul W. Klipsch who's contribution to military science is part of his Legend. But, let's remember most fondly the little guys... the countless men and women who received little honor and glory... just did their part to the nth degree as only God may know. -HornED

Mighty Favog
To my Great(X4) Grandfather, Oakie Van Osdol Sr., who served at the age of nineteen in the Revolutionary War under Captain James Deboo as a private in the regiment commanded by Colonel Nixon at the Battle of Bunker Hill (really it was Breed's Hill). Later he became an aid to General Washington. Lived from December 22,1757 to July 7, 1849. 91 years, 6 months and 15 days. Thanks grandpa, I'll be putting a flag on your grave Sunday morning. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 05-24-2002 at 05:48 PM
kenratboy
Both of my grandpa's were in WWII. I am very thankful to live in a country that has been able to "deal" with whatever happens to it. I think Memorial Day should have more signifigance this year than in the past dozen or so. ShapeShifter
HornEd, Well Wishes to You, all Fallen, Active & Former Services Members! Proudly Served: 3RD Armor Division 1972-1974. ---------------------National Symbol---------------------- -------------------By Charles Evans Hughes---------------- The flag is the symbol of our national unity, our national endeavor, our national aspiration. The flag tells of the struggle for independence, of union preserved, of liberty and union one and inseparable, of the sacrifices of brave men and women to whom the ideals and honor of this nation have been dearer than life. It means America first; it means an undivided allegiance. It means America united, strong and efficient, equal to her tasks. It means that you cannot be saved by the valor and devotion of your ancestors, that to each generation comes its patriotic duty; and that upon your willingness to sacrifice and endure as those before you have sacrificed and endured rests the national hope. It speaks of equal rights, of the inspiration of free institutions exemplified and vindicated, of liberty under law intelligently conceived and impartially administrated. There is not a thread in it but scorns self-indulgence, weakness, and rapacity. It is eloquent of our community interests, outweighing all divergences of opinion, and of our common destiny. ------------------ KLIPSCH IS MUSICf> My Systems f>s>c> This message has been edited by ShapeShifter on 05-25-2002 at 05:24 AM
