  1. I wholeheartedly agree! Kudos to LarryC for the effort he puts forth to share with us his deep knowledge of the composers, conductors, and orchestras in the classical music videos he presented. I have always loved classical music, but was unaware of many of the nuances of the genre. Many thanks Larry! Regards, Greg
  2. Wonderful news Amy, Put Brenda and I down, we wouldn't miss it for the world. Regards, Greg
  3. Amy, My Wife Brenda and I will be attending as usual. We look forward to seeihg everyone then. Regards, Greg Clawson
  4. Amy, My wife and I will be attending the 2006 event. We have been to every Pilgrimage since it's conception and look forward to it again this year. Regards, Greg Clawson Gregorius
  5. I got a Scott 299B and a Sherwood S-2200 Tube Stereo Tuner for $40.99 at the local Goodwill. They were cut into a nightstand and worked when I plugged them in. They look mint also. Greg
  6. Thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers. The last 14 months have been quite an experience for us all. She is adjusting quite well and is also quite glad to be home. I know I have not been online much lately, but I still think about all of you Klipscheads all of the time. I look forward to meeting all of you that are coming to Indy this year. Regards, Greg
  7. Greetings Gentlemen, Long time no contact with this forum, changed jobs etc.... The good news is that my daughter is safe in the states now. She arrived last Wed. safe and sound. She should be released back to inactive reserves in about another week. Her unit was not without casualities though, a young man was killed and two more wounded by a roadside bomb and RPG on Jan. 2nd when they attacked a fuel tanker, one of the other soldiers lost his right leg. It is only through God's grace and providence that the situation was not worse. Her unit was stationed in Fallujah where they are having all of the trouble now. May God be with those Marines that are there now, I fear it may get much worse before this matter is resolved. Regards, Greg
  8. Trey, I am definately in! It was a great time last year, and I look forward to seeing all of the old faces as well as some new ones. Greg

  10. Kelly, Which gift would you prefer? The program, T-Shirt, or autographed photo? Greg

You should be able to get a nice pair for about $1,500 a pair if you are patient. Regards, Greg
  12. Matt, No I have not dealt with this company before, but I have heard good things about their customer service. I plan on buying either a 525 or a 7200 before Xmas from them so I was just checking on my options. The 230 looks to be comparable with the current 325 and at a cheaper price. Regards, Greg
  13. As a Jazz newbie, I find that my favorites are also Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan. I have found I prefer vocalists, but I am now trying some of the Jazz instrumentals that Allan and Kelly have recommended. I think the Sonny Rollins is very good and will have to search out some of his work. This forum is a great tool for discovering new music to experience, that is what it's all about isn't it, the music. Regards, Greg Ps. DeanG I used to like Journey also, but it doesn't do much for me anymore. I guess 20 years changes your outlook on life.
  14. NIUHuskies, Check out this link, they are available from jandr.com now. HK 230 Greg
  15. Dave, You surpass me then, I would not even try. Bookcases are more my speed. HDBRbuilder had some posts here where he corrected some of the commonly available LaScala plans that are available. He used to work at Klipach back in the 70's and 80's. He also built a a couple of pairs of Oak LaScala's last year. Do a forum search on HDBRbuilder and you should come up with something. Regards, Greg
  16. Dave, HDBRbuilder (Andy) could give you more insight on this than I, but the folded basshorn is not as easy as it looks. Also the Midrange horn on the Heresy is smaller that that in the LaScala. The tweeter may be the same, then there is the issue of the crossover. It may be cheaper and simpler just to find a used pair. I paid $800 for my LaScala's Regards, Greg
  17. Greetings Gentlemen, Until WinXP I used Red Hat and its variants probably 90% of the time and dual booted into Win98 for the few programs and games that would not work in linux. I believe that it is nice that they are making it more user friendly (ie windows-like)but they are just screwing up the stability of the OS and introducing conflicts in the apps. Who really needs 30+ ways to play mp3's? While I still have Mandrake linux on my old P2 box, my new P4 is exclusively WinXp Pro. It has been up since March except for storms etc. and hasn't crashed once. I think MS has finally gotten the stability problems fixed. Either that or it is due to my new Intel MB. There are still the issues of DRM and activation, but there are ways around that. And yes I did pay for my XP Pro. Greg Steve, Batten down the hatches and ride this storm out safely. Don't be like Kelly and be a hero. The Loon he is probably surfing.
  18. Happy B-Day Noz, I was 40 on 9-15 Greg

  21. Amen m00n, I can vouch for that. It is much easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Greg
  22. I considered this route when I bought my Russound amp switch. I was afraid my wife would throw the switch to the tube amp when the SS was on. The owner of the local electronics said that the tube amp should be able to take it if it was shown no load, but the SS would probably be damaged. He compared SS amps to two elephants on a teeter totter. Greg
  23. Thanks, She has been in Iraq since April, and the latest is that they will be home for Xmas. They are in a safe area, but their convoys are the ones being shot at and bombed almost daily. My wife writes her at least 3 times a week, and we send out a care pkg every week. She calls us occaisionally for about 5 min so that is good. My grandson is doing okay considering the circumstances. I blew up some photos to 8x10 and put them on his bedroom wall so he can kiss them goodnight. He says prayers for her every night, and we talk about her just ike she is still here. Her greatest fear is that he will forget her, he just turned 3 yrs old in May. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Greg
  24. Good Ol' Dean stirring the pot again.
