sully141
Right now I have a Onkyo 809, 130w x 7, Everything is Klipsch, The front is VF 36, side speaker are VB15 and Rear are VB15 also with VC 25 Center with a Klipsch SW 450 sub, But my question is if the Klipsch rw12 d would be a good finisher, or just stick with the one because i wont notice much of a difference. I'm also running into issues with the onkyo because i had a 609 and jumped up the 809 but I'm just not noticing a big difference with the new receiver just seems like the surround sound should be better in the blu rays, I did the whole adessey microphone thing but just doesn't sound right. I know you can never have to many subwoofers, The RW is 299 at newegg.com and I was thinking about getting it.
Beechnut
There is so much more to good LFE from a sub than just adding another one. I've not heard either of these. On paper, the rw-12d extends lower and has more power to do so than the sw450. Sub placement and room treatment will do a lot for managing bass in a room. Also, integrating two subs is not plug and play. Audyssey XT-32 boasts that it does this well.
KlipschLife
I basically have your setup, but I live in a small studio apt. [] This sub is getting lots of buzz and is made by Klipsch: http://www.amazon.com/Jamo-SUB650-Closed-Subwoofer-Black/dp/B0042AKTOG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347328136&sr=8-1&keywords=Jamo+650 Review: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1425552/jamo-sub-650-omnimic-frequency-response-graphs For Audyssey XT32 you need a Onkyo 818, which I'd like to get myself one day. http://www.accessories4less.com has a refurb one. I bought my Onkyo 707 from them 2 years with no problems.
Heritage_Head
If you want more bass another sub will probably give you that. For a few hundred more (if you can) your options would open up a lot.
derrickdj1
Hi Sully, I had and a Icon V HT, very nice setup. I also had the SW 450, a really nice sub with lots of bass. A second sub will even out the bass response in the room. A 12 in sub should compliment the system. The Icon V speakers have a great sound. I am wondering if the VS 14's would work better as sides. Give a little more info on your budget, room size, location of side and rear speakers, height of speakers, ect. Then we can offer more help and suggestions. If it does not sound right, setup may need some tweaking.

I bought my Onkyo 707 from them 2 years with no problems. The onkyo 818 from everything I could find has a stripped down version of xt-32 which does not include the capability of calibrating dual Subs. Would hate for someone to throw the money down on that and be let Down
derrickdj1
You can level match the subs. I have a 7.1 avr and use a y connector to hookup both subs to the .1 channel and then level match them cutting one on with the other off, one at a time to 75db's. The avr's sub level is set to 0 during this process. Then auto - calibration is done. Works great even without identical subs. -
sully141
the room is 16x13, with a 5 foot open doorway in in the middle of one wall so setup will be fun that is the den. the living room is 20 by 13 but is a open concept with kitchen and dinning room, so i'm sticking with the den area. i was goin to get the vs14 but vanns and best buy said the vb15 would sound better. I don't know the vs14 would work with the den room setup. I looked at the jamo and its rated the same at the rw12 except for the jamo is enclosed box. so i don't know which one would be better. sully141
I looked into the jamo, alot of reading tell ya what, from what I can get out of it is it comes down to room size. my room is 16x13 whit a big *** opening in the middle of one wall. but all the reviews were about having 2 of them, So I'm pairing which ever one I get with the sw450. So its hard to tell which ones will compliment the other. I guess the question is which one hits harder. For some reason i'm leaning towards klipsch. derrickdj1
I had a pair of the VB 15's and used them for surround back speakers with decent results but the VS 14's performed great as front height and surround speakers in a 19x20x10 ft. room that is open concept with a large open area behind the room. For your size room, either sub should do well. Using identical subs makes room integration easier due to the similar frequency response. A 12 in Epik legend is also an option with dual 12 in drivers and frequency extension into the teens. I still own 2 sets of the VS 14's if you are ever interested in a pair (mint condition). I actually paired my VS 14's as front height speakers with the RF 7's and they held their own without a sweat. I need another VC 25 to finish offf my Icon V basement HT. roaddog359
the size of your room can also dictate if more that one sub is needed as well as the sub you currently have. If it cant keep up it may be time to upgrade or go dual or triple subs, but what ever you do dont get quad subs, because then you will be one uping me!!!
