mungkiman
Guiness World Book doesn't seem to have a category for "loudest snap", as in of the fingers... I have a rat-shack spl meter, and certainly "loud fingers", but no testing skills. Help?

mungkiman
Not looking for room treatment suggestions or box parameters (no offense Boxx), just how to use an SPL meter to determine how loud I can snap. Suggestions?

Mongo171
why not finger snapping? My fingers pop from arthritis. Could that be a category?
Daddy Dee
Good idea to include arthritis pops. just finished moving. hadn't noticed my neck popping before the last few weeks.
CECAA850
Good idea to include arthritis pops. just finished moving. hadn't noticed my neck popping before the last few weeks. I can get about 90 dB C weighted from my right knee at 1 meter.
thebes
The Radio Shack meter only goes down to 60 db (decibels). Set it to its lowest setting and set the "Response" slider to the left on "Slow". Set the "Weighting" slider to the right on "C" . Aim meter slightly higher than your snapping position. Snap fingers from, say, a foot away. You'd have to be pretty hard snapper to make it register at it's lowest setting. I just tried it with no luck. Conversely, blowing at the meter registered right away. Don't forget to turn off the meter when done. It doesn't have an automatic turnoff.
mungkiman
Thanks! Set as Thebes suggested, and snapping from a foot away, I pin the meter! Set at 80, I can hit -2 to +2 with relative ease. Does this suggest an 80 decibel snap at 1 foot? Rings my ears, it does...
Boxx
Let's get back on track... Da, da, da, da, snap, snap....
mungkiman
Can hit -2 when set at 90, occasionally, with dry fingers. Might need me some snapping rosin...
