jason str
Only problem I can see is that's only a 2.1 system for $300 3 pairs of Dayton B652 bookshelf speakers. $179.40 ($59.80 pair) 1- 12" Dayton Subwoofer--------------------------$129.00 Total-----------------------------------------------------$308.40
Moderators Youthman Posted September 25, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted September 25, 2014 Even better...I was thinking they were priced individually.
CECAA850
87Db sensitivity and a 6 Ohm bookshelf. Make sure his receiver is up to the task on the Daytons. Have you found any reviews? It's an interesting option.
Moderators Youthman Posted September 25, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted September 25, 2014 Receiver is low end Harman Kardon
Moderators Youthman Posted September 25, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted September 25, 2014 He's powering them all by his Harman Kardon AVR146 (Has HDMI, Dolby Digital & DTS and only 30 watts per channel). He has no desire to change his receiver so Option 3, we would have a receiver to sell to make the deal less than $300.
CECAA850
The quintet satellites are 4dB more efficient and the center is 8dB more efficient than the Daytons. They're also 8 Ohm speakers. I'd do option 1 with that receiver.

Scrappydue
They have a new dayton air that has a ribbon tweeter for like 73$ a pair. I wanna order a pair to play with. Bet they sound awesome for the money
Moderators Youthman Posted October 1, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted October 1, 2014 I think that's the key here...."For the money" they probably do sound very nice. Can you buy better....sure....but you will spend a lot more too. My friend has no desire to spend a lot on a setup for his living room. He just wanted something better than a HTIB. I think this setup will be sweet for him. I'll be sure to post some pics and a my thoughts of them after I get it all setup for him and calibrated.
