wvu80
The debris was found in 1991; why is this now news? Are we to believe it took 23 years to identify this piece of metal? And where is the rest of the plane? Or other signs of life from 1937? Something about this story seems odd, to have surfaced just today. oldtimer
I guess that's supposed to be funny but don't be surprised if it takes just as long for MH 370.

And where is the rest of the plane? Or other signs of life from 1937? Something about this story seems odd, to have surfaced just today. The only organization looking for the plane is a nonprofit organization called the “International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery” and probably no real source of revenues other than soliciting donations. Myself, I'm thinking about raising funds to look for DB Cooper's money. Part of the reason may be related to soliciting funding for the next mission that will take place during 2015 and the work involved in actually conclusively corroborating something like this piece of metal can be very difficult and time consuming. First you have to envision what the piece of metal that appears to be part of a plane may actually be. Once they determined it was a patch, then how do you prove conclusively that it was part of Earhart’s plane? Think about the difficulty in finding flight 370 that had far less lead time and was much more recent than 1937 and had a far greater budget than donations…..
