Edroom
I would shoot higher and buy it piece by piece as you can afford it. Start with a pair of rf-7 II's, they have plenty of bass and should keep you happy till you can fill in around them, they put the 82's to shame....I had 82's and was not impressed. If you are willing to go used you can pick up a pair of RF 7 1's for 500-800. muel
If I was starting over and had your budget I'd blow it all on a single pair of speakers for 2 channel. Save up and buy or build 2 subs. Save up and buy center and surrounds to match. So what if it takes 2 or 3 years? I would have no regrets!
pite
agree with Edroom and muel ... Bought them when they were launched and I've loved them every single moment since then... Good luck in your purchase
