"Damping" top exposed mounted horns ? ?

So, alot of folks talk about "damping" horns to eliminate "ringing"

Using Mortite or Dynamat or similiar, or concrete or Jello Chocolate (For a more mellow tone) Pudding (NOT "Instant" of course) or whatever, and gasketing snugly to the motorboard for slightly isolated yet added mass to help reduce unwanted vibrations.

Kinda makes sense. (Newbie here)

But then, we have the Jubscalas or ?Jubillees? that have the top horns supported from the bass bin with like a 402 or 510 horn. with only the mid weight and in some photos with the horn actually totally unsupported on the front end, or resting on the bass cab below with NO buffer ? Maybe an air gap, not sure, but still with the front edge of the horn totally left to potentially "vibrate" possibly negatively.

I see two TOTALLY conflicting methods.

I only care because I just got a pair of double 15" KPT 904's and will be needing to select what to add for the mids/highs and mounting them (it) exposed on top.

402's are out of my $ range, and I'm considering  510 for 2 way or K400 and K77 (cause I LUVVED my old La Scalas).     Thoughts??  If you like,Please talk to me like a 5 yr old ok.   Lars
