Montego
Bought it used a few years ago. It's always sounded dull or flat to me. I put a Forte in the center just to compare - big difference. Its like having a whole new setup. Has anyone upgraded an Academy and noticed any improvement. Crites crossover is $110.
cheric
Change the capacitors and you will see a major improvement. Should be around $20 from parts express. I did mine a year ago and could not be happier.
colterphoto1
Very nice! Good to hear reports like this. I did a LSI-BG-split the other day and it's nearly so toppy now that I can't stand it. Will give a rest and try again.
oldred
Did one of Bob's crossovers on my Academy a couple of months ago. Glad I did. Edited February 25, 2015 by oldred

MORE KLIPSCH PLEASE
good to know that the Academy is worth the repair Ahhhhhhh you don't want that old thing, just send it out to me.....lol lolI'm looking to start my 5.1 system and the Academy is one of the speakers I'm thinking for my center. Good luck. MKP :-)
Frzninvt
Replacing crappy caps with crappy caps and leaving the stock coils isn't going to help much. I wonder if popbumper or DeanG could build you a real network for it. Here is my post from years ago. Looks like a lot of the photos were removed but Chris (popbumper) has one at the bottom of page one. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/53650-an-academy-tale/?hl=%2Ban+%2Bacademy+%2Btale The Academy is a great center but is a compromise if you are using the big Heritage speakers. Yea, it's definitely the weak link in my HT setup but at least dialog should sound decent during non-action scenes. I'll read up on your post
CECAA850
No doubt in my mind that Dean could.
