Breakdown7
I have decided to sell my Dennis Had Inspire KT-88 tube amplifier. I bought this directly from Dennis and have the original box he used for shipping. The amp is in excellent condition. It comes with the power cord and a very nice selection of tubes. I have tried all sorts of tubes with this amp; This particular amp is a tube rollers dream. You can change out different rectifiers and swap in different types of output tubes. I have used KT-88's, 6V6GT's, 6LCGC's, etc. Fun, fun, fun Here are the tubes I am including: Pope 6V6GT output tubes recently purchased from Upscale Audio. These have very little use (approx 50 hours) and still need some more time to burn in to sound their best. RCA Blackplate 5Y3GT rectifierShaguang 5U4 rectifierRussian rocket 6H1N-EB driver tube (6922 equivilent) I found two very small flaws which can be seen in the last couple pics. There is a small scratch on the base of one of the output transformers, and a small scratch on the back. Other than these two small flaws, the amp is in perfect shape. Neither one of these flaws is very noticeable, but wanted to disclose. It's a great sounding amp, and I hate to see it go. However, I have too much gear and need to thin some things out. $750 + shipping and PayPal fee. Edited March 2, 2015 by Breakdown7
Breakdown7
Surprised no one is interested in this amp. It sounds wonderful guys. In my opinion, it is nearly impossible to beat for $750, especially with the NOS tubes that are included.
Max2
Just in case some don't know, Dennis Had founded Cary Audio and he is creating Inspire tube amps after selling his company, Cary Audio. Lots of great reviews on his Inspire line of amps.
Breakdown7
Yes that is correct. Guess I should have mentioned who Dennis Had was in the description. I have owned a few Cary Audio pieces in the past, which have all been very nice and sounded great as well. To my ears, both the Dennis Had Inspire gear and Cary Audio gear have a very warm, rich presentation. If one wants a precise, crystal clear sound, I would look elsewhere. However the thick, rich, smooth sound of this SET Inspire amp would be a great match for Klipsch speakers in general. I'm surprised it's still here frankly, but maybe the market is not the best now? I don't have to sell the amp, but wanted to offer it to members for $750 in case someone was looking. It's a very nice little amp, and I don't know of another piece that will touch it for the price of admission.
