mboxler
Depending on the generation of your ipod nano, the Pure i-20 dock ($69 on Ebay) is amazing. I use the the built in DAC, but you can feed an external DAC if you prefer. The remote is not the best in the world. Their website will let you know if your nano is supported. http://www.pure.com/product/i-20-vl-61429/
agile1966
Another option is an Apple TV. You will have access to your library on your laptop as well as other streaming options such as netflix etc. You can pick up an Apple TV for $69 now.

agile1966
I am far from an expert. I am sure others can provide more information, but I believe it works fine as long as you are running ITunes on the PC.
twk123
What DAC are you using? The one in your Ipod Nano is not that great. I would run it into iTunes and use an external USB DAC and have that feed the line level signal into your AVR. Personally, I like DAC's with a Tube in the buffer stage as it brings some warmth to the digital music.
agile1966
I understood that AirPlay sends a digital stream and the DAC in the AVR would be used. I agree for critical listening a external DAC is necessary, but casual listening it works fine for me. YMMV
gadgtfreek
Re-read; my iPod sounds better than YouTube or Pandora. Are you ripping your songs to iTunes in the highest Quality? If it weren't for the Marantz & Denon Apps, we wouldn't have 2 x iPhone 4 & 2 x iPhone 5's... 80% of my library is purchased from itunes.

Im not saying the USB connection sound bad, but it should be "better". I think its castrated because of piracy fears. Airplay and Spotify connect are pretty much lossless, which is why I'll try airplay next.

agile1966
I use Spotify through AirPlay. It sounds ok for casual listening. I definitely wouldn't say it sounds great. I am also listening on the THX system which is average at best for music. Movies are another story. gadgtfreek
Is it the premium service or free? Free is castrated a bit too. Thats kinda my motive for going airplay. I already have it, it doesnt cost me any more, and it is lossless.
agile1966
I use the premium service. Your right, free is castrated. I really like the higher bitrate. Very noticable.
TasDom
I use Spotify Premium on the HTPC connected USB to the Oppo. Sounds great and I can control everything with my iPad and don't have to have the tv on to make music selections. You have to install remote helper on the PC in order to do this.
