jimjimbo
Do they do this on purpose???? Warranty on my Dell 15 inch windows 7 laptop just expired last week....now I can't get it to boot up. Turns on, looks like it's going to start, and then just sits there, blank screen....never did create a restore/recovery disk (my bad), but....any suggestions? Already removed the battery, tried that, reinstalled the battery, removed the power cord, etc, etc. 'Really hardly has anything on it, and I'm pretty fanatical about running maintenance and virus scans regularly, the whole enchilada....I'm not clueless, but now I'm stuck....Not looking forward to calling Dell Tech Support, if you know what I mean.... oldtimer
Same thing happened to me with a Lenovo tablet. Too expensive to fix, never getting one again.

Jim Naseum
In our family, most computers die around 3 years old from one cause or another. As anyone can see, they are very poorly made and absolutely not intended to last long. This is because they will be technically obsolete in a couple years, so there is no value to buidling in quality. Our defense is very simple: upon any new computer purchase, we place all user data and user accounts on a disk that is not the system disk. Never put anything of yours on a system disk. When the computer blows, plug your "data disk" into the new computer and off you go.

Max2
Try pressing and continuously holding the Fn button and then hit your power button. If that doesn't work try hitting the power button and then holding down F8
