The History Kid
While the weekend has just started, and I've only begun to burn in the new Xovers, the old ones have already lost in the matchup against the new Crites ones. To clear things up, I did a double blind A/B test in my listening space, then had a couple others do the same. The results were flat out obvious. The result is that I now have an extra pair of stock RF-3 crossovers that I don't have a use for. I don't really know how pricing on these goes, but I'm making a stab at $100 $80 shipped. I'll hear offers too if anyone has one.
Scrappydue
Crites is making crossovers for reference series stuff now?
The History Kid
These were a test. I called him a few weeks ago asking him if he could help me do some updates on my towers. Since I was ready to gut this room any way, and wouldn't be able to use the towers for a while anyway, I opted to send him one of these for him to take a look at. Was the right choice indeed!
The History Kid
Late year bump. Any takers? Need these out of my space.
jjptkd
Interesting, so you had Crites build a set of RF-3 crossovers? I've considered trying the RF-5 crossovers in the RF-3's just to see if the improvement is in the crossovers because I can tell you the RF-5's just smoke the RF-3's IMO. With the same basic cabinet size, same woofers and same tweeter diaphragms the horn lens and crossovers are the only things different but the speakers seem worlds apart to me. The History Kid
The RF-3's have improved clarity it seems with the new crossovers. I had some assistance with a double blind and actually picked the modded RF-3's over the Heresy I's with clarity on the highs. (The Heresy won in most other areas). I had a few other people say the same. My listening environment isn't ideal, so I accept it could be other factors. I think between the horn in the RF-5 and the crossover is what makes the difference. Not sure though. I haven't had a pair of RF-5's to compare them to. Giovifish
I risultati erano ovvi. Were you able to sell them then?
