Zerobias
Greetings to the list. I am going to rebuild the crossovers inside of my 1982 vintage Hereseys. While I have the cases open, are there any published mods augmenting the internal damping for the speakers, and is additional damping needed? Any input greatly appreciated. jimjimbo
A very well respected, and highly paid long time Klipsch engineer said this: (to paraphrase a bit....) If it needed any (or additional) damping, we would have added it..... So, decide for yourself....
JohnA
It does not need any damping material added. However, you could glue and screw a 1x2 stiffener to the inside of the back panel to stiffen it and reduce its vibrations. I laid mine at an angle to avoid the various bits inside. Bossman
I never added damping to my heresys, and they always sounded ok...Some members have used foam tape to seal the horns to the cabinet and also used it on the rear removable panel to help seal the box. jason str
Sealing the back panel is a good idea. Here is a pic of some bracing, one a Heresy and one off a sub hatch. Be sure you allow clearance for the K-55. Edited July 17, 2016 by jason str
mustang guy
Since Heresy's are sealed, I think you should also make sure you have an airtight seal on the back hatch as well. This isn't discussed enough, IMO. The woofer and horns also have gasket material as well.
