No tube can be "Repaired" ---- The only way would be to remove the glass and re-blow a new envelope, sucking a vacume at the same time of course. You tube has some great tube Mfg Videos for info. If it's even cracked, it's toast, sorry. I think they are fixing loose in the mounting socket tubes that do not have cracked glass. Cracked glass would sort of ruin the whole vacuum thing.... EMRR
whatever you do, the point is minimizing motion between the base and the glass so the leads don't break.

First post: "I have a pr of AVVT 2A3s that have wobbly glass (I can wiggle it a little) where the glass meets the base. They sound OK, but do they need repair, and if so, who would do that? " This is a fairly common issue with old tubes that have a phenolic base. However, if a 12AX7 has loose pins .... SOL.

My Take from an early lesson learned. 1964, built a "Spark Gap" and kind of learned enough code to chat with others. One day one of them had an idea to use a tube(s) we were all into tubes, i was fudging my way into TV's. What he was doing was building a transmitter, hell anything not to listen to that dam snap and wonder if that was a dot or dash. We, 6 of us, built these lil devices, 10 year olds and tubes are a disaster in waiting, every tube we owned was "Loose". This one type of tube, was a little hard to find, We learned right then, so what, if it works, run it, and run it till it dies.
