scher
My son just sold my Klipsch Forte floor standing speakers, (1980's) for $300. Should i be upset?
WMcD
Generally, I'd say yes but it all depends.. Value for a willing seller and willing buyer depends on the condition and finish, and whether the seller wants a quick sale. The black lacquer demand less. Blown out drivers can be a problem. Having original boxes is a plus. I'd say your son could have gotten a couple of hundred bucks more. I don't want to be harsh but it seems like something took this out of your control. scher
Hi - Yes I wasn't home and he thought he was doing the right thing. They were from the 1980's - wood finish - I am original owner. I am not an expert when it comes to this, didn't have original papers, boxes, etc. Just curious, what were they worth?
jjptkd
Original forte's sell between $300-$500 depending on finish and condition so your son just priced them to sell quick is all, I wouldn't be too upset. Now had they been Klipschorns I'd say its never too late for a good ash woopin'!!
scher
Hi jjptkd - Well that makes me feel somewhat better! The prices out there, especially eBay, are so varied. They were in really good condition, wood nicked a bit here and there, mostly lower. So hard to gage what actual price should be. Thanks for taking the time to respond!
geoff.
Your son made somebody very happy. Tell your son he needs to find you some Lascalas for a grand and all is forgiven! That would be REAL audio karma.
