Klipsch Heresy HBR

Good morning everyone, I was recently given these speakers through a friend of mine, I would like to make use of them perhaps for the use of a sound system in the master bedroom of my home? I am not a particularly knowledgeable sound guru but I have tinkered before with a few things here and there. I worked as an aircraft mechanic for a few years and have built a few analog electronic projects. Anyone know much about these two lovely looking speakers? (Forgive the photo quality)

HBR stands for Heresy Birch Raw.  At some point in their life it looks like someone applied a stain to the original raw birch finish.

This website shows how you can determine the age of Klipsch speakers based on their serial number.  There is a Y in the middle of the serial number of yours.

In average condition original Heresy pairs sell for around $300-400.  Great friend you have!

@Stormrider,

Welcome to the forum.

Congrats on the nice gifts you received.  You have a bit of audio history that should brings years of enjoyment.

In my opinion, Heresys are not too amplifier picky so you have a plethora of choices on the used and new market to get you up and running.

I have used many brands of receivers, preamp/amps, integrated amps that are out there and none have ever made them sound bad.  As a matter of fact, all have sounded very good with a few exceptions pushing the sound to "incredible" levels.

Not sure of the age of your speakers but the link @wuzzzer posted will help you out.  The finish is a bit hard to tell what type it is but a slightly damp cloth should revive it a bit.

Enjoy.

Bill

See 2-Channel Home Audio thread and topic Klipsch Heritage “Codes” in this forum. Your Heresy are 1983 version 1’s which are easy to work on as the back panel comes off with 8 screws. Listen to them and enjoy! If you want to do any work on them, this is THE forum, from wood work to drivers to crossovers all the information you need is here mainly under Technical Modifications thread.
