Lone Palm
This ain't no rap or hip-hop with synthetic electronic bass. This is bass that will knock your socks off. It's the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky. It's the Cincinnaty Symphony Orchestra conducted by Erich Kunzel. It's on the Telarc label #CD-80041. Digitally recorded Howitzers that quiver the gut. Check it out but be very careful because the dynamics are unbelievable.
Mighty Favog
Yep! Heard it live once from him/them. My sister-in-law is the Cincinnati Symphony Orch's publicist.
synthfreek
That's a classic subwoofer test disc that has been used for years by many audiophiles(and just regular folk like me).

HONDADX
Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Orch. on Telarc have always been famous for dazzling audio; booming bass and stratospheric highs. You would be well served to pick up on almost any of that conductor/orchestra's output -- it's great, and will put your system through its paces. lovedrummin
I agree, E.K. & Orch. put out some very good recordings. I'd really like to get this 1812 on DVD-A but I never seem to run accross it at BestBuy. Do any of you folks know of any on-line retailers who carry this particular recording? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
MagnumMan
Lone Palm- do you have the original stereo cd or the newer DVD-Audio version? I had the original and then got the DVD-A version earlier this year. It blows the original away! Setting up my friends system after he moved, I put that disc in and let it rip! he couldn't beleive the bass. Then I unplugged the sub. He has a pair of KG 3.5's. He couldn't get over how much bass was still coming out of them! It is a great demo disc. Lovedrummin-I got the new version of it from Telarc's website. http://www.telarc.com/
