Jeff Matthews
Some of you might have heard of IQ. They also have a good live video of this from 2005 if you want to watch the performance.

oldtimer
Jeff, if you don't have it already, you might consider the works of Chick Corea's Return to Forever lp's. The first 2 might be too mainstream jazz for you but later efforts have a larger ensemble and are prog with a jazz twist, or maybe jazz with a prog twist. Regardless, I think you might like it. Check out Romantic Warrior, Hymn of the seventh galaxy, No Mystery. Musicmagic. The first two are awesome too but more on the jazz side. And---all you need to know---Stanley Clarke on bass, the greatest bass player in history.

Didn't know they did this genre of music.
