That is what I wanted: something to read. That is the first I had heard of that and I can't find it elsewhere. From what I have read, PL was the power of choice of several of the large bands. https://www.pinkfloydz.com/interviews/peter-watts-interview-may-1973/ https://forums.phxaudiotape.com/threads/phase-linear-and-pink-floyd.3293/ https://www.facebook.com/The-Pink-Floyd-equipment-1529586360622174/ https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/pl-nostalgia.484964/ https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/old-phase-linear-equipment.140038/ Again, if there is info out there that lets me learn more, then I want to read it. They might have made a switch in the 80s, but I can't find enough info to support that.
mustang_flht
What are you looking for ? http://jerobison.blogspot.com/2008/02/pink-floyd-sound-circa-1979.html I had a superb Audio Research D100A Solid State which worked extremely well, the sound was wonderful. But unfortunately he made me smoke beautiful Leedh Ether speakers: GRRrrrrrrrrr! I put it away and sold it for parts. Sorry to hear that. I read enough about the Adcom smoking speakers that I wasn't going to chance it. The Adcom is still going driving less expensive speakers in an auto repair shop.

It's not a matter of time that has passed or luck, it's a matter of facts. One of the links that I posted was from an interview conducted in 1973. A lot of the information is newer. I am not saying that they didn't use SAE, but from everything I had read, they used PL. There are several other pieces of information from magazines that I could dig up. All I was trying to do is get more information of when they stopped using PL and started using SAE, but everything says that they used PL. https://testamorta20.angelfire.com/PFlive.html http://www.watersish.com/archives/cat_amps.html https://www.soundonsound.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=74594 https://pfco.neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk/band/interviews/art-rev/art-sos2.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astoria_(recording_studio)
mustang_flht
Hello ! @Woofers and Tweeters I'm French, so sometimes I don't understand everything in English! Looks to me like you want to know when Pink Floyd left the PL 700 for SAEs: here's is a nice story of Pink Floyd's Live Sound, so far I've read about PL700 and BSS amplifier, but nothing about SAE : maybe I skipped a line ??? 😜 Note: he talks about lots of nice equipment: Midas, microphones from Shure, Altec, Gauss, ... But, but, but there are P500s to amplify 15", 12" & Tad 2001: P500 are not the SAEs you are looking for? In 1984, during the band’s inactive period, Britannia Row Productions became an independent company, purchased from Pink Floyd by Robbie Williams and Bryan Grant. For this tour, Brit Row merged their own facilities with those of their close associates, American-based Maryland Sound Inc. (MSI) whose proprietary PA stock formed the core of the touring system. This featured quantities of 4 x 15-inch low packs, 4 x 12-inch high packs and a TAD 2001 high end driver, all powered by P500 amplification. https://soundgirls.org/welcome-to-the-machine-the-story-of-pink-floyds-live-sound/ Other version https://pfco.neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk/band/interviews/art-rev/art-sos4.html

billybob
Think there are pics on the web of some of their racks. Built all kinds of equipment. Wardsweb had or may still have some. He sold a decent size amp here a while back. A bargain price.
