Please remove the posts from DEAM

Recommended Posts

If DEAM had brought up the topic in an adult-like manner (and without the pornographic avatar, which has no place on this Forum), then maybe he could have expressed his opinions which could've been shared with others. He did not, though, and it'll only cause more harm than good.

Please remove his topic from the Forum.

Thanks.

After reading this simpleton's posts I wholeheartedly agree: His avatar is unacceptable in this type of forum, his troll-like posts are argumentative, and he should find a new home. This forum has way more class than to allow junior high school level taunting and pornographic avatars. Off with his head!

As usual, I am the one sitting on the bench while the other kids play baseball. Perhaps it is because I cant see straight. I certainly dont see straight about banishing or censoring any young whippersnapper for their childish or foolish behavior.

I didnt see DEAMS offensive avatar. Yet, that does not matter. Last fall, I looked straight at Robert Mapplethorpes controversial male and child nude photographs at the Met in New York City. I viewed James Woods movie Dirty Pictures on Mapplethorpe's work straight through. I think Mapplethrope doesnt see straight either. His view of life is a curve-ball. His photographs are extremely well crafted, and yes, some of them are disturbing. But then, so are gruesome surgical documentaries on the Discovery channel and sticking your hand up a cold chicken to clean its gizzards.

Life isnt all pretty pictures. None of this behavior is as bad as some people make it seem. Neither DEAM or Mapplethrope are so outrageously offensive as to infringe or limit something that is much more important to all of us. The privilege of writing what we say and feel on this corporate-sponsored public forum.

Children are rude at times. They say the most obnoxious and embarrassing things at the worst possible moment. Yet, rude sayings of children are no reason to tape their mouths shut. We shush them, we reprimand them and we politely turn away. We can change the channel and order pizza, but if we dont like DEAMs comments and his avatar, do we really need to banish him to make this wonderful forum better? Why cant he sit out an inning or two? If we do banish him, then what is next? Will we still be able to diss Klipsch subs in favor of SVS tubes? Or will that be verboten too?

Dont think that this isnt important, guys. Our freedom of speech, thought, self-expression, religion and yes, even obnoxious, childish behavior, is one of the many reasons the also young, also male, terrorists struck the most important financial towers of the Western world. I may be against a war in Iraq without better proof of its cooperation with anti-US terrorists groups, but I can see straight now. This is where I get up off the bench and draw my line in the sand. Let the child stay.

Colin,

The difference is that you chose to go to the Met and movies and even paid to view those works of art.

The Klipsch web site has posted guidelines regarding what can and cannot be posted here:

"You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this BB to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law." This is just a part of the contract you make with Klipsch when registering as a user here.

DEAM violated those rules and as such the webmaster or other moderator chose to enforce the rules. The Klipsch moderators generally are very conservative when it comes to enforcing the rules but it seems they thought DEAM stepped over the line with his avatar. You notice they didn't delete his posts, just his offensive avatar.

The difference is not the language of the law, which governs this or any other public forum. The question is not whether the Met, or Showtime or Klipsch CAN show or remove colorful surgery, black n white Mapplethrope or confrontational DEAM for their behavior. They clearly have the choice.

The language you quote above is but a prayer of the legal profession. Yet, the prayer by which we bury our victims does not make the crime any less. If the actions are deplorable, the words which cover the actions are no more than dirt. Klipsch clearly has the proper prayer for removing DEAM no problem there. I implore them however, to choose NOT to. Instead, I think it is a bigger crime to remove him. Let the rotting corpse lie.

Instead, removing his offensive avatar, which their language gives them the right, seems a prudent first measure towards discipline.

BTW, since I have to read books like Catcher in the Rye to judge for myself why such compelling material is so frequently banished, if anyone has DEAMs objectionable avatar, I would like to see it for myself.
