I knew a guy who built several Hedlunds, used various Lowther drivers. They sounded good. Not as good as true Big-Hog horns with compression drivers and big woofs but pretty good.

Note how severly undersized the mouths on most of these Lowther rear-horns are, Dr. Edgar says this causes the bass response to be a series of sharp peaks and valleys.

Those Hedlunds and the Voit Pipes are very impressive...it's amazing what a single Lowther driver can do with the right resonator cabinet! And check out those tube monoblock amps...built right inside the racks! I'd love to hear that system! I wonder how efficient those Lowthers are?

Yeap, those are very cool.

However, (see Klispch Audio Papers) PWK abandoned those kind of direct radiator/rear loaded horn type designs early on for many reasons, including just plain old higher levels of distortion.

But those are about the coolest looking Lowther/Voight type speakers I've seen.
