Diggs
My brother is contemplating purchasing the HK 525 from Onecall or JandR. Has anyone had any bad experiences with either company? It says they're both authorized dealers and have the unit for $699, while it's $1000 at the local Circuit City. Something seems off here. $300 difference? Anyone care to shed some light on this or suggest something else? Thanks in advance.
fini
Good experience here with Onecall. They even called ME to see if things got to me OK. fini
Geo1
I bought my 525 from One Call, but I've bought from both places and have never had a bad experience with either. One Call ships out the same day or the next. I'm not sure about J and R because it comes a longer distance, so it's hard to tell if it was shipped immediately. I'm in AZ and if I order from One Call on Monday, it's here on Wednesday. For me it would boil down to which one I'm closer to and, therefore, which would get it to me quicker. They're both very reputable.
lancestorm
I actually bought mine last week (AVR 525Z) from OneCall.com. Came nicely packaged and early delivery time (fast 2 day delivery). Here's one heads up you should know of. If the receiver is DOA, you can't send it back to OneCall. Any problems must be dealt with directly with H/K (or the nearest authorized rep for H/K products). Mine works perfectly so thankfully I didn't have to deal with that.
chepo61
Same here with OneCall. Bought my H/K 520 from them this past february, everything hassle free, good customer service. I'd buy again from them. My 2 cents.
easylistener
I believe that the one from onecall is a reman. I have ordered from both places. I like JandR. I have ordered more from them. I havn't had any problems from either.
Diggs
Thanks for the replies. We'll look a little closer and see if they say anything about refurb'd units.
Bill H.
I looked at the One Call site, new vs refurb......you decide. New was 999.00 w/a 10% discount, and free shipping. Refurb was 546.00. Most stores, list refurb units with a letter...i.e. HK 525z .
easylistener
J and R has new for 699 and they can be talked down a little. Brand new and authrized.
BBB
I've ordered a half dozen items from One Call without any problems and quick delivery BUT take lancestorm's advice seriously as far as the return policy is concerned.Good Luck
jdm56
I've never dealt with One-Call, but have bought from J&R many times with no complaints. I once bought a set of speaker stands and was not satisfied with the build quality. I sent them back and there were no questions asked. More recently, I ordered a new Panasonic SA-HE200 receiver from them and it arrived with the main left and right channels deader than Saddam's social life. Again, it was exchanged for another unit without hassle. Can't beat that. Plus, I find J&R's prices are usually the lowest of "authorized" retailers. And likes been mentioned, having the option to just return or exchange a defective product is worth a lot. You don't want to lay out a bunch of money for something, only to have to take or send it to a repair facility.
speed3
Onecall actually has a price matching guarantee. If you look closely, you have to click on a box to see the lowest price (as you do with JandR). I have had numerous dealings with both companies and had great results with both. I don't think you would be disappointed with either.
