dadbar
I suddenly became the unexpectant owner of a pair of original Heresy's when I bought them at an antique shop this week for $50. This is my first Klipsch experience so please bear with me. I have been looking at these for the past year on Ebay- all the ones I see generally have Black grilles with the Klipsch logo spelled over above the tweeter. The pair I bought have a goldish tweed grille cloth with the old Klipsch "pie slice" emblem on mirror image corners. My pair seems to date from 1975 (serial #'s 14N159 and 14N160)...so when did Klipsch phase out these pie slice logos and switch to the more modern look? Are my grilles original to these speakers? Lucky for me, all the drivers work and appear to be stock. The crossover (type D) has 2 unmarked chocolate caps- are these original? Should they be updated? Thanks in advance for any and all advice. jt1stcav
Welcome to the Klipsch Forums, and to Klipsch ownership. Your Heresys are fine loudspeakers that should give you immense pleasure for life. And your's may be rather unique in as much as they're older models with the PWK pie-slice logo, while I'm assuming that many Heresy owners have newer models (could be wrong, though). Unfortunantly, I'm no Klipsch expert myself, but if you can provide good quality pictures and post them to this thread, there's bound to be many others here that have years of experience with Klipsch and the Heresy line, and can answer your questions concerning the logo, crossover types, and driver/horn configurations. Hopefully, your Heresys are all original and in excellent condition...later on down the line if you feel the need to change or improve on their sonics, there are many mods to choose from, and many experts here who've done them. Or you may be totally satisfied with the way they sound just as they are (like I am with my Cornwalls). Don't jump on the mod bandwagon just because others have modified their horn speakers, let your ears be the judge...so just sit back, listen, and enjoy! Good luck
3dzapper
$50 you thief!!!!!!!!!! Great buy! I think that the logo was changed starting in 1978. I got the new logo on my horns then. The demo units I listened to had the pie shaped logo. Rick
