mike stehr
...It was quite interesting. It was hosted by Clint Eastwood. He rapped with the likes of Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, Dr.J?, Pete Jolly, and others that escape me at the moment. Clint asked these folks what the major influences were for them, and they gave they're takes... They showed Art Tatum, Nat King Cole,(I agree with Ray Charles, the older Nat King Cole is Tasty)Fats Domino, Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, and a whole host of others that I can't recall now. A guy that really kinda struck me was Professer Longhair. (I think I got his name right.) It was cool to see in spite of the age of some of these folks, that when they start tearin' away at a Piano, they start looking like little kids, just happy as can be. IndyKlipschFan
Art Tatum was my surprise find with that show. OMG fast and effortless..Worth the find for piano players IMO. If Tatum was alive today I am sure would be seeing him all over the world he was incredible.
