What do you figure these will fetch? $800? Let's start a pool.

The guys got zero feedback. The only way to do these is with escrow.

How does escrow work on eBay? Does it protect you over the $500 or whatever eBay guarantees?

tombjr,

In escrow, you deposit the money in a third party account and release the funds when you recieve the item. I see this guy takes Paypal. Since he's new he might not be set up for credit cards just wire transfer. But, one could buy the insurance from Paypal too. It probably would not cost any more than escrow.

Tom,

Ebay DOES NOT provide a blanket $500 transaction insurance policy! Their "insurance" is a $500 total payable policy against ALL transactions conducted by the fraudulent seller. This is an important distinction, as it ensures that you will not be able to recover much of any contested amount when involved in a significant purchase.

Never try to deal with anyone who insists on a Western Union money order, and if you involve yourself with an escrow company, verify that they are properly established, registered, bonded, and insured in the state of licensure, and that YOU have selected them or concurred with the seller on their use.

As we have extensive resources on the items we pursue on Ebay, you should also vigorously educate yourself on the financial processes available to complete these transactions. Don't let your eagerness for a great bargain obscure your need for prudent financial behaviour. The best way to ensure you are happy is to either kick the tires in person before you pay, or have a local forum member do it for you. Some of us are actually trustworthy, present bloodsucking leach excluded2.gif
