BigBusa
That's the one that is on my thorens. The ebay one also has the fluid damper 200 ...which I believe was optional and a mystery cart attached.
3dzapper
I would have bought it except I am shut off this month by SWMBO. Those arms have gone for two or three times the BIN price lately. BB you should get it and relist it after the holidays. Rick
Guy Landau
MC won't work on it though.
Allan Songer
Had an SME 3009-III on a SOTA about 20 years ago. I can't believe anyone paid $700 for one of these on ebay--MAYBE a an early 3012, but NOT one of these! Nice arm if you're into SHURE or GRADO cartridges . . . Randy Bey
I am very interested in the tonearm. I am already watching an SME 3009 II on ebay. Allan, given your interest in SPUs I can see you not being interested. For those of us without TD124s, though, this may be good...
Allan Songer
I suggest you find a 3009-II or "improved" model and stay away from the "III"--it just limits what sort of cartridge you can use--I'm sure you'll want to experiement with MC cartridges at some point and the "III" will not allow that! I have a nice mid-1960's 3009 improved sitting here that I would sell if you are interested. I've offered it up before to others here for $275 plus shipping but there have been no takers. It has been "updated" with factory SME parts to allow for RCA jacks at BOTH ends and includes a new (well, five years ago it was new!) SME phono cable. If it's not for you just send it back and you can have your money back less shipping.
Randy Bey
sorry, saw your response minutes after I bought that SME. I read that the III will handle MC with an additional headshell weight. I don't have a MC right now, actually I do, an Ortofon X5 MC but it's on a TT that's sitting on a shelf right now...
