Tom Mobley
see also these on ebay, not exactly the same but in the ballpark. Acrosound TO-300 trannies: auction those Fairchilds on the 'gon are nicely done, check the pic of the undersides.
greg928gts
Boy, those Heathkit's with the GE807's are very cool looking. I wonder what they would sound like on Khorns? Greg
Tubinhard
Probably great if you can live with the low wattage.
greg928gts
Lower than my little SET? You mentioned 300b monoblocs in the other thread, I thought those were SET? Not always? PP 300b mono's? Greg
NOSValves
Dean, Those Fairchilds would be right up your alley ! I'm afraid you would kick that Canary right out of its cage once you heard them !! Craig
NOSValves
I bet those W3's stay under $500 !!
Tubinhard
The Canary went bye-bye today. I took a bit of a beating, but I really want to go back to monoblocks. Yeah Greg, 300B push-pull is really where I want to be -- but a little out of my reach right now I think. The Fairchilds look interesting, but I don't see anything there better than a good set of Quicksilvers.
NOSValves
You wouldn't. Iron my friend Iron....... your buying on looks again.
mike stehr
The ol' Fairchild's are tube rectified as well.
Tubinhard
I'm still not convinced that type of rectification is a make or break kind of thing. Uhg, stop with the "looks" thing. I don't mind something less than stellar looking, but I'm not into something that looks like it was dragged off the bottom shelf of someone's garage. In truth, it wouldn't take much to get those looking pretty minty. So, what do we know about the Fairchild iron? I sure don't see much underneath to get all excited about. Geez, I think a Welborne has more parts than that.
