Question about my receiver replacement

I have been told a few times that one of the weak links in my system is my receiver. So I have been looking at the B&K Reference 50 and the 200.7 amp. My question is, how big of a difference am I going to notice with B&K listed above compared to my current Sony 7ES?

as sony receivers-and,IMHO-receivers in general go,that 7ES you have is one of the better ones.

i would say the B&K will be quieter(less noise)and certainly an improvement, but i am wondering what it is you are looking to improve on?

I really don't know what I want to improve...other than quality and performance if more is possible.

I am sure it has a little to do with me never being satisfied.

I got my total system within the last 6-7 months, and I am already looking at replacing my R-35 series w/ the R-7 series, my 65 Sony WS HDTV with a 61 Samsung DLP and now I am considering replacement for my receiver. Oh and my 5 disc PSDVD player with the new Sony ES 400 disc DVD/SACD/CD player.

the 200.7 is a nice amp, but check out the ANTHEM 20 for pre/pro.

remote--I really like the HOME THEATER MASTER 700--Parasound does too as its the remote that they include with the HALO system...

its a GREAT remote, much better than the touchscreen nonsense out there....

Another vote for upgrading the speakers first. Try them first. Then ad an amp and use the Sony as a pre/pro. If you still want more add a new pre/pro and move the Sony into the bedroom. This will give you the biggest improvement first w/ the least improvement last (generally speaking). Also, the last piece of gear you buy, the pre/pro will be the best one to wait on because pre/pro features are what are enhanced the most as time goes on. (In other words features are added more often to pre/pros than other components.)

i disagree, replace the electronics first, you might just find out that the rf's you currently own are not as lacking as you thought, i own b&k gear, and the moment i pluged it in and tweaked it it seemed as if my speakers tripled in size, this just might help your pocketbook out as well, not having to rush to buy larger speakers, remember those reference speakers are just aching for quality downstream12.gif
