GRB
Hey guys, need a little help on Dating a pair of Cornwalls. Serial #14R318 and 14R319. Would these have been built between 1962 and 1983? If so, this would make the Cornwalls (not Cornwall II's) right? Thanks. Rob

garymd
1978 I believe. There's about 1000 threads that can link you to the date codes and another 20 or so that'll tell you a nice bottle of wine and maybe a movie always get cornwalls in the mood. garymd
My bad. I thought they skipped S but now that I think of it, people are always confusing S with 5 and they probably should have.
GRB
Thank you sir. They are not my Cornwalls yet, but I am going to try and make them mine.

GRB
Thanks Gary. LOL. Hope I can get them in the mood!
chops
Isn't it only the Cornwall II's that the drivers were mounted from outside the enclosures? That's what I thought anyway.
Budman
could these be the Decorator Model Cornwalls. the Klipsch badge is on the front face, can't read the label on the back
GRB
Hey Gary, one more question. After looking at these again, I think they may be decorators. They have finished fronts as opposed to black. Is this the case? Thanks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3094487041&indexURL=0#ebayphotohosting

If so, they'd be decorator models.
whell
Why would you want to date a Cornwall? I'd much rather date a Belle. At least, its a much more feminine name.
garymd
We crossed posts. They are definitely decorators and ALSO have grills and the fronts aren't flush. Very cool! I'll bet they were special orders. I wish Andy would jump in. He may have built these! Ask the seller what initials (other than USA) are stamped on the upper back edge. If an "A" is there, then Andy built them and could give you more details.
GRB
Gary, just sent the guy a question as to what initials are on the backs. These happen to be in my home town and I could have my brother go pick them up. Wish me luck. Rob
garymd
Try to get close-ups of the sides and top. They aren't showing the condition of the cabinets at all which makes me a little suspicious. Do you know the finish? If I won a pair like that, I'd store the grills away and keep em all natural. You can put a finish on the front to match the rest of the speaker. They look beautiful from the front for sure. Good luck!
GRB
Yea, the pics look good but it is hard to tell. Depending what the seller tells me in his reply, I think I will have my brother go see them tomorrow and take some pics to e-mail me. They are different looking though. How are the velcro strips held on, staples or double sided tape? Could they be removed without leaving scars in the wood?
garymd
It's kind of a gluey substance on the back of the velcro. Comes off the grills pretty easily like you see has happened in those pictures. Should be easy to clean them up after taking them off.
GRB
Thanks Gary. I agree, no grills. They look good.
chuckears
GRB, Looks like we're in the same town... these would be great, if I wasn't getting ready to throw down several grand on home improvements. Unfortunately, the Mrs. would not be too pleased if I pursued this right now. Best of luck! (BTW... did you get your Rotel 1095 from SCS? And how do you like it with your Klipsch speakers? Mine is great for HT, but I'm not as happy with it for music...)
GRB
Hey Chuck. Do you mean we live in the same town now or where the Cornwalls are? I was raised in Springfield, MO and am currently located in DC. I got the Rotel @ Audio Visions in Laurel, MD. I am very pleased with the KSP's but I am also trying to put together a 2 channel rig for my game room in the basement.
