How tell date of manufacture

I am wanting to buy a pair of Klipsch Heresy speakers between the years 1975 and 1980 but I want to know if the date of manufacture is always printed on the back of these speakers. If not could you tell by the serial number? Also if anyone has a good pair of Heresys for sale let me know. Problem is I live in Hawaii. I have put an add in the paper and got a few replies from responders for La scalas and K-horns which I know nothing about. I just heard a friend's Heresys years ago and was smitten. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark, Oh I wish I was in Maui right now. It's snowing like crazy here. Anyway, welcome to the forum.

Anyway, if you've got the room and $ and there's Klipschorns and/or LaScalas in your area, you might want to check them out. Lots of information available through the search function in the forum here.

Anyway, here's the date code info for Klipsch products. Good luck and let us know how you make out. Hamish

You know, sometimes I wonder why they didn't just have a space on the tag for a manufacturing date, written conventionally. It's like you need a decoder ring from a serial box...

Fini, being "sensibly" conventional is apparently just not part of the engineering mind - Or, it could have to do with the accounting system used by Klipsch. My guess is the latter...

The info above in this thread answers the age question.  What model Klipsch do you have?
