Tom Mobley
go to this link, search on sacd, start looking. I got like 229 hits, most of them were under $11. Probably won't last long. Ripped from the AnandTech Hot Deals forum. link to Sony.
GRB
Holy s**t, I just bought two Miles Davis and two Thelonious Monk SACD's for $40 total with shipping. Great tip. Thanks.
Tom Mobley
There really is quite a bit of stuff there. Some SVR, Miles, Monk, other jazz/blues stuff buried in between the pop garba---er---ah--selections. Yeah, that's what I meant, selections, I'm sure of it. Steve_L
To, thanks for this link. I just ordered "Kind of Blue", "Abraxas" and Marvin Gaye's "Midnight Love" (a guy's gotta take advantage of all the tools at his disposal!).
scott0527
Geez, no wonder nobody is buying SACDs yet. Do we really need Jennifer Lopez and Celine Dion in SACD? I got an Oasis and an Indigo Girls. I'm not a big Jazz fan but looks like some defent jazz stuff. Are either of those Johnny Cash SACDS(Silver and Live at Folsom Prison) listed any good? 3dzapper
I bought: Miles Davis "Jazz At The Plaza" The Bad Plus "Give" Santana "Abraxas" The Byrds "Greatest Hits" Thanks for the heads up Tom. Rick

Woodog
wow! thanks for the heads up. Once again, the forum and my wallet feed off one another. Forrest
Parrot
Johnny Cash "Live at Folsom Prison" is classic Cash. The Byrds SACD is bright, but don't blame the format. That's just the sound the Byrds wanted. If any of you like Dylan, all of the SACDs of his were excellently done. - Wait, it looks like the online store isn't selling the Dylan hybrid SACDs except in the box set. The rest are plain CDs. Only SACD I have right now is a 5 song Stones sampler and it sounds really good. Picked up a used Music Hall Maverick just before Christmas, now I'll have something to play in it. triceratops
Excuse my ignorance on this, but do you need an SACD player to play SACDs or are they also compatible with a conventional player? Thanks! triceratops
Parrot
You need an SACD player to play a plain SACD. Most SACDs now are hybrid discs, with a CD layer and an SACD layer. If you have a CD player only, you'll only be able to access the CD layer.
3dzapper
The Byrds played "bright" live too. Probably to emphasize the attack of the accustic guitars. I saw them in Boston in '69 or '70. Paul, did they do a remix of "Folsum Prison" The1999 CD 20 bit remix #CK65955 is TRASH! My wife won't let me play it it is sooo bad! Parrot
I don't know about the remix, sorry. It's definitely remixed on the multi-channel layer though! I don't have the SACD; already have it on LP and plain CD. It's not a sonic masterpiece, but it's a heckuva performance.
fini
Might I suggest that if you've got spare cash after Christmas, you also make a donation to The Red Cross International Response Fund.

Parrot
I give them my blood every two months. I'm a multi-gallon donor (not all at one time though).

Seems they've organized their website in a confusing way (but perhaps it's just me).
