RS7 mounting

Hardhitter

Recommended Posts

I have just ordered a set of RS7's for my system. My old rears sat on stands, and I would like to mount the new speakers on the walls. I checked out the online manual, the two screw system seems a little weak! I was wondering if anyone has a better mounting system than 2 drywall screws? Or is does this system work well. My speakers should be here Tuesday, and I would like to have a good game plan!

Thanks for your input!

Dave

I've had rs7's hanging with some heavy duty toggle type drywall mounts for a few years, not even in a stud.I had one good spot to mount them and thers's no stud there but each toggle holds 75lbs(if installed correctly).

Panhead screws in the stud are fine, they'll never fall. Screws in the drywall are NOT fine. As the prev. poster stated toggle bolts or hollow wall anchors are the only way to go. I mounted one of mine that way a year ago and it's still tight to the wall. My 2 SVS's have definately given it the stress/vibration test. Oh, by the way, they are a pain in the rear to mount. Don't do it by yourself or you'll surely drop them.

I also used the pan head screws, the size recommended in the manual. No issues, just make sure you don't screw them into to far and that its in a stud, might take two or tries to get the speaker to sit flush on the wall and then get it wired up as well. I used those rubber mounts on the back so that was resting against the drywall.

I made an angled wall mount bracket doohickey for mine so I could have them angled down.

and then I use 2 panhead screws in this wooden mount for the RS to attach too....

no problems.....do use the little rubber stick on feet in the RS owners manual package so they will not vibrate against wall....

Hey thanks guys! I was just worried that they wouldn't hold. But I guess I was wrong. By the way, what is up with your wife using your speakers as shelves? NOT IN MY HOUSE!

I just chewed out my kid for setting a DVD on my speaker, he has been asked to leave the theater!

Thanks again!!
