If you like Soul Serenade-you've got to hear his latest live 2 CD-- "live at Georgia Theatre"--you can only get it off a website, but I managed to get a copy off eBay--

He's got a tight grooving band and his guitar playing is so original-- he plays within the songs --- not alot of wankarama

They play alot of covers including a knockout version of Freddy's Dead--

Blues, jazz, R&B--this CD is one of my favorites

Thebes,

Thanks for the offer, but I have every album and CD that he has done. Everything I have on album I bought on CD.

I even have German and Japanese pressings.

I don't know why but he is my favorite artist.

Again thanks for the offer.

Danny

This is an unexpected surprise! Thanks to Thebes for maintaining this great series of threads, and for the t-shirt. Also, thanks to all of you who offer your recommendations. I have made several purchases from your suggestions.

For this week, Our Lady Peace, "Gravity" 2002, CD, "alternative" (and therefore, mainstream?) rock; one track "Somewhere Out There" got airplay a year or two ago.

I'll recomend Our lady Peace- Naveed, and Clumbsy. You got them Richardp?

Well just ordered five Herb Alpert CD's from Walmart.

I have one of them already "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" but since they re-mastered it I could not pass it up.

Four of the five were newly re-mastered this year!

This is some of the greatest music every recorded.

This is actually a 5th anniversary present as both me and my wife love listening to Herb Alpert.

Herb Alpert:

Definitive Hits

Release Date 3/27/2001

The Lonely Bull (Digi-Pak) (Remaster)

Release Date 2/8/2005

Whipped Cream & Other Delights (40th Anniversary Edition) (Digi-Pak) (Remaster)

Release Date 4/19/2005

What Now My Love

Release Date 6/7/2005

South Of The Border (Digi-Pak) (Remaster)

Release Date 2/8/2005

I do have "Clumsy" also. I have only listened to it a couple of times, but I like "Gravity" somewhat better. I think those two are a few years apart, so maybe their songwriting style changed a bit. I'll listen to both more and compare.

The Royal Counts, "The Royal Counts Sing Acappella Soul", cd doo-***

Huh, what's the old geezer talking about now.

Well doo-*** and accapella are terms for what were basically urban street-corner singers that came into vouge in the mid 1950's to late 1960's.

Think Duke of Earl and you'll know what I mean. I've always had a warm spot in my heart for this music, the lyrics are usually about teen-age love but the harmonies on the better groups are pure heaven.

So what do you have to share this week?

I was listening to one of my favorite radio shows on Saturday, 6/11, and they had a vocal quartet named 'Tonic Sol-Fa' on...

ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! They have a CD out that I'm ordering today called 'Boston to Beijing' .

you said i can download that concert ...??

No--I'd read on Allmusic.com that you could only buy it off of their website, and that it wouldn't be in stores. I got a promotional copy of both CDS in just plain black sleeves off eBay.

Sorry to hear about the rip-off-- Bastards shouldn't be taking no music!!!!
