Mike Lindsey
I just bought a pair of Chorus speakers and will be picking them up on Sunday. I'm currently using some Epic CF-2's that I bought new in '95 with the KLF-C7 Center. If I like the Chorus more, I will sell the CF-2's and C-7 and replace with the correct Center. Unfortunately, on the Classic page, it doesn't mention the Center that belongs with this speaker. I know Doug Drake is using the KV-3 with his (I think). Does anybody know if the C-7 will match up with this speaker? I know the sensitivity is pretty close (101/99). Thanks in advance... dougdrake2
Just for the benefit of others who may be reading for information, as I mentioned to Mike in a PM I am using a KV-3 temporarily, left over from 2 configurations ago before I bought the Forte then the Chorus. Were I not going to use a Forte as a center with the Chorus, I'd go for the Academy. Others here have tried it against the C7 and find it the best match for the Chorus (of actual center-speakers, that is). The web site doesn't show the Academy as the match for the Chorus (but it does for the Chorus II) because the Academy did not exist during the life of the Chorus. It's not just the sensitivity you are trying to match, but the voicing as well. Use the C7 until/unless you can find an Academy, then buy it (if you strike gold) and a/b them!! Mike Lindsey
Thanks alot for all the responses. After talking with Doug, I think I will hang onto my C-7 until I get my hands on a cheap Academy. I can't use the Forte as a Center since I don't have the space above my TV. Anybody know where I can get an Academy for a discount? I've got a coupon. Mike
Mikekid
Mike, I'm using an Academy with ChorusII's. It doesn't get any better than this!!! I will keep an eye out for ya. Later Mike
myram
Good Luck finding an Academy......it took me about 10 months to find a good deal on one. It is a great center channel....and it works great with my Quartets to make a totally seamless front stage. If you post enough wanted ads around the internet....sooner or later you will find a good deal. I posted everywhere's I knew of....and in a month or so I had bought mine and got one for a buddy of mine....both of which were great deals. Ebay is another great source....but the prices are around $550 -$600 for one. speedbump
I too use the Academy as a center with my Chorus I's and had a C-7 before that. I compared them to each other and the Academy won out. Not a huge difference, but it is a closer match. If you find a good deal on one go for it. It is NOT 400 dollars better than the C-7!!!! I wouldn't pay what the going Ebay price is if you already have the C-7. I'll keep an eye out too. I was fortunate enough to get help from this board when I went after mine...so its time to pay back Speeed ------------------ Klipsch Chorus I Mains Klipsch Academy Center Klipsch Heresy I Surrounds Marantz SR19EX Receiver Yamaha 5 CD Changer Mitsubishi WS-55807 55" HDTV Playstation 2 for games/DVD

Timmyotool
Good luck finding an Academy. I've searched HIGH and low for many months with no luck. I came across a KG2.2c and it rocks with my Chorus II's. Believe me, it's got a lot more balls than some of the stuff I've seen being used with Chorus II.
