dp1954
Hey Guys. I don't post on the forum often and it seems like when I do I'm trying to sell something. I read the info as often as I can and have learned a ton. you guys turned me on to tubes. Been a klipsch lover for about 6 years. Anyhow, I want to offer these to you guys first before I list them on ebay and audiogon. I'm in Roanoke va and sold a pair of corns to Gary in Md. Great guy. I hope he was happy with the deal so maybe he'll vouch for me. I have a really nice pair of Chorus I's in oiled walnut. the only problem with them is one of them has a scratch on the top. I accidently dropped a screwdriver on it when I was changing wires. Dumbass! Anyway its not bad and you would have to be right at it to see it. They've had glass tops on them ever since. I have had them for about 5 years and have never had a problem with them. All other parts are mint with no nicks and straight edges and corners. I'm pretty conservative and would rate them 9 out of 10. To me they run a close second to my cornwalls. The reason I need to sell them is because I have committed to Budman to purchase his belles if they don't reach reserve on ebay. They took away my forum access at work when the site went broadband and I didn't catch his post here. I still can get ebay at work and saw them there. If he doesn't sell them on ebay I will buy them... I prefer the oiled walnut and I really don't have anyplace for khorns. But if he does sell them I have a second chance offer on khorns from a guy who sold them on ebay and the guy never paid up. They are in oak and I prefer walnut but at the price he has offered them to me I really can't go wrong. I'd just have to come up with something that will work. Long explanation, sorry but bottom line is I am going to get one of them and wont have room for the Chorus's. I really don't want to ship them and prefer somebody to pick them up. Their too nice to chance getting screwed up. If someone is willing to pay for having them packed and shipped I will help where I can.. I just don't feel that I can pack them adequately. I also have a nice pioneer sx1280 that I am going to sell. 9.8 out of 10. Been checked out and the only issue I have found is a slight scratchiness on the tape monitor switch. Really great amp but I now prefer tubes. I ran 4 klf20s with it and the sound was outstanding. Disease took me to heritage. This I will ship with buyer paying shipping. For forum members I'll let the chorus go for 650 if you pick up. I want 450 for the pioneer. They will be higher on ebay. I usually only check this site a couple of times a week but you can email at my profile account or at work at dave.potter@bellsouth.com. Don't post enough to know how to post pictures but if anybody wants them I can email them to them. Thanks Dave
Bill H.
DAVE, So basically your trying to say- that you live in Roanoke, VA and you'll let the chorus go for 650 if you pick up. and you want 450 for the pioneer.
garymd
How's it goin Dave? Haven't seen you around in a while. Dave's a great guy and I'm sure the Chorus I's are as described. The corns I bought from him are now owned by Boomac (after I got my Khorns). Dave met me halfway to pick them up since we live about 5 hours apart (if my memory is correct). Don't hesitate to make a deal with him if you're in the market and live close enough for pick-up. He's a stand-up guy and I'm sure you'll be happy with the transaction. Frzninvt
I see his handle bidding on just about every Klipsch heritage speaker on eBay. Addicted for sure!
dp1954
Yeh you might say I'm addicted. I haven't tried out the fully horn loaded side yet and that's why I hope to get Budmans belles. If not I'll buy the khorns that i have a line on. You might think this is nuts but I'm hoping on the belles because they are in walnut like my other stuff. I just prefer the look. And gary thanks for the vouch. I really enjoyed having lunch with you and talking klipsch. Now the bug has taken me one step farther and I must obey. And the price is 650 pickup on the chorus and 450 for the pioneer. Both are in excellent condition and you'd be hard pressed to tell them from new. I'll wait a week or so and if nobodies interested I'll put them on ebay. Both pieces of equipment are well worth what I am asking. I'll check the forum at night and respond to any interest. Audible Nectar
Looks like good prices on BOTH. Especially on the Pioneer - that is definitely worth more than $450 in the current market.
dp1954
Hey. The prices are good and you probably won't find a better sx1280 anywhere. I've just got to much stuff that I'm not using because I have gone exclusively to tubes. I own an eico hf81, 2 scott 222's, a fischer 500c and an hk430. These prices are only good to members on this board. You guys taught me alot about GOOD audio and I want to return the favor. The 1280 really sounds good and is a tank. Around 70lbs I believe. Even the walnut case is perfect. It really works best on the newer Klipsch stuff and with lower efficiency speakers like jbls. I had a pair of l100's and and pair of 4312's hooked up to it and it really has the power. 185 watts rms back when they new how to properly rate output power. I also used it on 4 klf20's and the sound was outstanding. The disease took me elsewhere and right now I really like the sound of el84 tubes with my heritage stuff. Plus I'm planning on buying more of those. Anybody interested? I'll leave it on the board until middle of next week. No sale and they go on ebay. dp1954
Just bumping. Any interest? I'll put them on ebay next week in nobody has a need. Thanks Dave
garymd
Dave, I think most of us here like our tubes also. Good luck on ebay with the Pioneer. I'm a little suprised nobody is interested in the speakers but location is everything. All of the forum members in our area seem to have speakers coming out of their ears. dp1954
Thanks Gary. But I'll leave them on the board until next week like I said. I've got speakers coming out my ears to but really want a pair of belles or khorns. I think I have figured out a way to setup some khorns. anybody ever try a setup with one false corner and the other a regular but usable corner? Thanks dave

Southern
Dave, I also fell in love with tubes/klipsch combination when I finished re-capping my Dynaco tube equipment. I also love my Pioneer SX-1980 receiver. After spending time listening to both, I decided to bi-amp my Pioneer receiver. I plan on having the Dynaco ST-70 handle the mids & tweeters and have the 270 WPC Pioneer handle the woofers. The Pioneer does better with the lows and the Dynaco does better with the mid & highs. Once I finalize my plans on the bi-amp setup I hope to have the best that each amplifier offers. Good luck with the sale of your equipment. I hope you don't regret selling your Pioneer receiver. dp1954
They are great amps. The 1980 was 270 watts and the 1280 is 185. Thats from when they knew how to measure output. In those days the amp had to be able to output the listed wattage for one hour out of both channels. Nowadays its just one channel and only for a few seconds. I probably will regret selling it but I just have to many amps and can't use them all. Never messed with biamping, but I bet it does sound good. the old pioneers put out plenty of low end power and the mids and highs were no slouch. Just a little to sharp to my ears on the heritage speakers. And the best part of them was the distortion was in the .02 % range and the first watt was very clean. And man what power! Sounded great on the klf20's. and the beat goes on. If it doesn't sell here by wednesday I will post on ebay. I'm not using it now, altho I fire it up monthly with some heresies just to keep the capitors hot. they are the size of coke cans and I believe the toriodal transformer was around 22 lbs. They don't build them like that anymore. Enjoy. Dave
Southern
The 1280 & Heresy combo would be a great system for a garage! If you really must part with your Pioneer you might consider posting it in Audiokarma.org. They have a seperate Pioneer section and have people appreciate what you have. Just a suggestion rather then paying e-bay.
