LarryC
Spherical not elliptical tip, only red and green leads = monophonic cart = 1950's? Is that a screw-on fastener on top of the headshell?

RAPTORMAN
Spherical not elliptical tip, only red and green leads = monophonic cart = 1950's? Is that a screw-on fastener on top of the headshell? Larry I'm not sure. Here's a close up of the text.. See what you can make out of it. The design reminds me of that famous painter,--who's paintings are all twisted.......What's his name again???????? Was it Salvador Dali or something??? LarryC
Well, guess what -- the 890 SA is current -- "Stanton 890 SA High end performance cartridge for the Scratch Artist " according to Needle Doctor. I still think that dealie on top of the headshell goes back a long time. I'm not an art expert, but don't think it's Dali. He was a surrealist who painted droopy watches and had a funny moustache. The word "Stanton" has 1970-ish lettering but isn't far out like Peter Max (for example).
Daddy Dee
"no cue burn" doesn't sound like an issue that would interest a home hifi user, does it? Perhaps an ad for a broadcast TT cartridge? Very interesting marketing art. Thanks for posting.
kev313
Looks like a very current ad for the club DJ market
sunnysal
That cartridge was first released in the 1970´s, hence the graffitti lettering. It was used by DJs in the early days of hiphop/rap/etc.. it has recently been re-released for nostalgia purposes. the poster is signed and dated (though the date doesn´t show in the photo [02?]) regards, tony
seti
I don't think it is a Dali but definately someone into 70's abstract art. If it was a Dali work it would be easy to trace back to him especially in the latter part of his life as his price tag went up the older he got. There is also no mention anywhere of Dali doing work for stanton and the signature isn't his. It is a cool piece though I definately would have bought it []. I am a huge Dali junkie and would love to make it to his museum in St.Petersburg Florida[au].
