DizRotus
The name "Wharfedale" goes way back in British audio. They were known for sand filled cabinets. Products are still made under that name, http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/company.php. Much more, e.g., age, drivers, etc. needs to be known before they could be evaluated anywhere from doorstops to hi-fidelity.
Schurkey
Yeah, but they're now made in China, I think. Yecch. Yet another example of corporate greed and outsourcing.
Speedball
Audiogon says the 3-way E-90 was made in 1978 cost $1950.00 new and may now sell for $340.00........for what that info is worth.
edwinr
Wharfedale and Quad are both owned by the International Audio Group. Both are now made in China. That early series comprised of both bookshelf and floor standing models but were made in England around the 1980's, I think - maybe a bit later. Inexpensive chipboard cabinets with a plastic veneer. Kind of budget to midpriced speakers. Nothing special soundwise. They were made after Wharfedale's decline into mediocrity.

jcmjrt
If they are W-90s, then they are nice speakers. Go over to Audiokarma and do a search there. You'll find pics, info/discussion about the speakers.
DRBILL
A VERY British speaker. Neither this nor that, but just so. Take a pass on them. DRBILL
hwatkins
I never met a Wharfdale that i would take home to meet the parents. There is a pretty strong core group of followers/disciples that you could probably scare up on the net somewher - they would be interested in a pair in good shape. joessportster
saw my friend again today and inquired further about the wharfedales, he confirmed the model# as the 90W, said each speaker had something like 12 drivers in it, i am going to give them a look but doubt very seriously i will buy them, unless they are just so cheap i cant refuse, or if the drivers are worth more than the price. thanks for all the feedback Joe
