MichaelShaffer
How do I hook these up since they have 4 connectors on the back?
dbflash
Nice speakers and I hope you enjoy them. There should be a jumper between the bottom connectors and the top connectors. I have never seen the back, but usually the bottom 2 connectors are your LF (+ and -) and the top 2 are HF (+ and -). There is a strap between the LF and HF + and a strap between the LF and HF -. If there is no strap just make a set one out of the speaker wire you are going to use. Once the straps are in place connect the speaker wire like a "normal" speaker. The reason you have 4 connectors is incase you want to bi-wire or bi-amp. Again enjoy your speakers. Danny
Gliderguy
The 4 connectors should be jumpered unless you plan to biamp. Did they not come with jumpers? The jumpers are short lengths of speaker cable with spades. Each speaker should have 2 jumpers. They attach + to + and - to - on the 2 sets of posts. The top set of posts goes to your HF Xover circuit and the bottom goes to your LF Xover circuit.
nicholtl
You might also want to consider throwing a carpet of some sort down on the linoleum floor. That, and the bare wooden walls, can wreak havoc on your room's acoustic properties...
MichaelShaffer
Ok.. I hooked them up and all I hear is the horns and very faint. Nothing coming out of the woofers. Is my amp just too small? I'm going to get a Rotel or Harman Kardon soon but I just wanted to try the speakers. <br>
dbflash
Did the amp work with your old speakers? The jumpers look right. The switch on the amp is set for mono so I guess you are just trying one speaker at a time. The source selector switch is on AUX so you have your cd player plugged into AUX input. MichaelShaffer
Ok, got it working. I guess that amp was broken. Thanks for the help.
Zen Traveler
Welcome to the RF-7 club. I am happy with mine. Needless to say you should be getting sound out of the woofers. I don't really understand what you are using to drive them. I also would be concerned that the "bridge," wasn't included. If you already purchased the speakers I would contact the Klipsch parts dept. and get the correct part. Someone else may comment on your stopgap measure to connect the terminals. Did you also get the grills?
dbflash
Glad you got them working. Just me I wouldn't worry about the straps. Just make the straps out of the same speaker wire you are going to use. Danny
joessportster
hello i see you bought those in alexandria, ive been itching to hear those speakers, maybe we could do a listening swap i have the k-horns and ran by vrd's with a blueberry x-treme. Just in case you have been wanting to hear the k-horns or tubes let me know. nice score by the way on the rf-7's Joe
MichaelShaffer
Do you think it's safe to use this amp with the speakers? It seems to work GREAT but I heard this loud POP when I was playing a song at low volume. Not sure if it was the cd player or what..
MichaelShaffer
I guess it was just the cd, it only pops with that cd. By the way the seller also has a RC-7 for sale if anybody's interested.
IndyKlipschFan
at low voumes yes... do NOT crank it.. I doubt the amp or your ears clipping / distortion / doing damage to them would be a good thing!
