Ray Garrison
Paul, After reading Max's answer, I pulled out my copy of ELO's Out Of The Blue - song title is Mr. Blue Sky I have no idea on Max's new challenge...
Jeff Matthews
Max is right. "Mr. Blue Sky." Ray, it was like a "Wheel of Fortune" hint - ELO is alphabetized in my CD collection before ELP. Anybody know the answer to Max's new challenge? maxg
Isnt it funny - I expected to look back in and find an instant answer. This was a formulative album for me having a greater impact on my youth than any other I can remember. As far as I was concerned this was bigger than the Wall and DSOTM combined. I am trying to come up with a hint for you all - but it is not easy without giving it away completely. I can tell you some of the people that performed on the same album: Julie Covington (Rocky Horror Show - Rock Follies) David Essex Justin Hayward (Moody Blues) Philip Lynott (Thin Lizzy) Jo Partridge (Kiki Dee Band) Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann) There are 2 others that I could name but wont - I think it would give the game away completely. Ray Garrison
Hey there Max. Where did you grow up? Just curious... I gave in to temptation and looked those lyrics up on Google. Hate to disapppoint you, but I have never heard of the artist (initials JW correct?), the song, or the album. Not even a foggy dim and distant bell went off. Ray "I gottta get out more..." maxg
Maybe it was a dead duck in the US - in the UK (where I grew up - Manchester to be precise) it was bigger than Christmas at the time. Ray - get hold of a copy somehow and tell me you dont like it - I have no idea what your music tastes are - but this was a hell of an album IMHO and all that.... maxg
OK - I am amazed!!!! No-one??? Nobody has ever heard of the War of the World's Album? Or Jeff Wayne?? Richard Burton? Do we live in the same Cosmos? People - beg borrow or steal a copy of this album and take a listen. Does no-one remember the lyrics: "The Chances of anything coming from Mars, Are a million to one each day Yet still they come." ???? Right - now I have that off my chest lets try again and if noone gets this I am out of this thread: "The Alien anthropologists, admitted they were quite perplexed, but on eliminating every other reason, for our sad demise, they reached the only explanation left, This species has......." Now people - DO NOT LET ME DOWN - this is, IMHO, the greatest Rock Album of all time!
Jeff Matthews
This is Cosmos 1 calling Cosmos 2. Cosmos 2, do you read me? [] Never heard of it, but maybe if I heard the tune, it might jog a memory.

Jeff Matthews
Okay, Max. I've been looking and repeating those lyrics a good number of times. I am wanting to say I've heard this, but I can't place it - especially on the greatest rock album ever. Sounds 80's-ish. Is the album a compilation of various bands or a single band? Jeff Matthews
Oops! Guess it was close enough. "Abbey Road" HAS to be in the TOP 10 albums of all time. Roger Waters could never hold a candle to it. No offense, Max. [] Anyway... Jeff Matthews
I thought this one would be easy. So, here's a hint, along with a re-posting of the lyrics: Hint: The lead singer of this horn-heavy band went on to a solo career. The song is off the band's debut double-LP released in 1969. It rocks! Lyrics: "I'd like to know Can you tell me; please don't tell me It really doesn't matter anyhow It's just that the thought of us so happy Appears in my mind, as a beautifully mysterious thing" Name that Tune!
