"get back to designing and building that 300B SET amp...ya hear?Wink [<img src='https://community.klipsch.com/uploads/emoticons/default_wink.png' alt=';)'>] "

Good advice. I have to get some other things done first, and among those are two 10ft pair of ICs -- Just now finished!

Next: a pair of CAT5 speaker cable for another friend who recently sent me some very nice capacitors, and then I can actively start that 300B project. Marie doesn't want the Moondogs fooled with, though[;)] She said, "Haven't those things been through enough already!?" They are 100% stock right now, even without the cathode return connection, since I was considering selling them some time ago. I would be dumb to do that, because they are great 2A3 amps. I installed Kimber Caps in place of the Jensen oils, and those seemed to zip things up a bit, or sort of polish the window on things. The Jensens are great sounding in the Horus amps.

Hey: Can I have a look at the BEZ schematic again? You posted it here awhile back . Every time I look, I get error messages. I'm not used to aspects of this new forum format, I guess.....

Erik, the schematic's been e-mailed to you, so you don't have to worry about using the forum to view it (guess I'm lucky...so far I'm experiencing no glitches with the latest format with Windows XP Pro and IE 6.0).

I don't blame your wife for not wanting your Moondogs messed with anymore...they're finally perfected as good as 2A3 monoblocks can get, so there's no need in modifying them for 300B duty. You've upgraded them and they sound fabulous as they are now, so leave well enough alone and concentrate on your other projects...or else![:D]

Jim:

The Moondogs are great -- and 100% stock. They've been upgraded to their stock Welborne Labs configuration.

You're right, if I'm going to do the 300B thing, it would probably be better to do from scratch. I would really like to have one or two examples each of the 45, 2A3, and 300B tubes, so I'll work toward that.

Right now I'm off to Walmart for a cookie sheet. I'm going to cut it down with a jig saw and metal blade, then file edges, to use as a bottom plate for the Baldwin. I just don't know if I can lean over far enough to cut the metal (dumb back issue of mine).

Erik

On second thought, it'd probably be better not to mention something as benign and Betty Crocker-esqe as a cookie sheet and tube audio in the same breath. Audio is pretty serious stuff, ya know!
