striperking
Hi folks, I'm new here...looking for some advice. I am looking to buy a set of Klipsch (used). I have a line on a set of KG5.2s as well as a set of KG5.5s. All are in very nice shape. The 5.5s are $100 more. Any thoughts on why I shoud go for one over the other? I have a Denon DVR2500, DCM center, Mission rears, and I do listen to alot of stereo CDs. Thanks alot!! Regards-_Bob
Speedball
Try to get a listening session with each of them...hard to tell someone what is best because everyones taste is different. Welcome to the Klipsch Forum.......
thebes
Welcome Bob you'll learn a lot hanging around here. I sure have. I have, or have, owned KG 1.5's, 3.5's, 4.2's and 5.2's but not the 5.5's and love the KG line of speakers. If you can't demo them (always good advice) go with your budget and room size. Those 5'5's are big bad boys, the 5.2's a little smaller but very nice sounding. If you get the 5.2's start them out at 7 feet on center and about 2 feet out from the wall if you can. Then play around with positioning from there. Good luck, let us know how it turns out and how they sound.
t-man
Bob, 5.2s use passive radiator vs. front port in 5.5 Same Tweeter Similar specs on the FR - I imagine they sound quite similar The KG 5.5 are skinny, tall and very deep The KG 5.2 are a bit wider, shorter and not as deep. The 5.2 comes in slightly different finishes and the grill is sturdier and more elegant - some may say. If it were me, I'd consider placement in your viewing/listening areas as primary consideration. fletcherkane
I also have heard most of the KG line. Of all the series, the originals, the .2's and the .5's, I like the sound of the .2's the best. I agree with thebes...see if you can demo both of them. Your ears are the ones that will have to live with whatever you decide.
J.4knee
My brother owns a set fo KG 5.2's. They are very nice speakers. IMO they are a little bass heavy but I think that has more to do with his set up. I completely agree demo them both and pick yer poison.
