ARPRINCE
Yeah, the drive is LOUD. I was pretty annoyed by that too. I usually just crank up the Klipsch! hehe I guess we are the lucky few because we have Klipsch to "MASK" the noise. [] I pity all those gazillion gamers out there who have to endure this "pain". tkot
i got mine today, the wife was a target and they had one left (of the three that came in this am) the picture is great(110 inch ft projection) the audio is amazing (i am useing the analog outs to my pre/pro and forcing the dts neo6 surround mode) when running from the cops in need for speed "most wanted" it scared the crap out of me when the cops got on the loudspeaker and told me to pull over. i didnt know that my surrounds could get that loud! and the sound field is truly "3d" my wife just made the comment that we now have a $25k video game? jay
fletcherkane
Microsoft has really screwed up IMHO. (What else is new) I can't believe you still can't get a new xbox360 without a huge wait. If Sony can overcome this with the new PS3 they will blow the 360 out of the water whether the graphics are better, worse or the same. With today's production facilities, there is no reason to keep the public waiting like this...
dblue
"there is no reason to keep the public waiting like this... " There is when you do a simultaneous worldwide launch....not the brightest move in my opinion.
damonrpayne
I took a long hiatus during my new home construction but will be getting back into it soon. I will be seeking to create the perfect Dopplebock but so far I've only done kits.
m00n
Was looking over my new XBOX mag the other day. There are some new games coming out for the 360 that look awesome... Still waiting to get one. Most likely not until summer.
dblue
I just picked up Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter...man what a game. Best visuals I've ever seen in a game (PC or console, this includes newer PC titles such as FEAR). Great gameplay too. Ubisoft has really outdone themselves. damonrpayne
I got to see a friend's 360 in action the other day, playing that Ghost Recon game. My 1st thought was "Neat, PC graphics", it looked quite good on his 768p 40" TV. I'm not sure if I could get used to playing FPS games without a mouse/keyboard. I see XBox Live as the coolest feature so far. The Fight Night game was also visually impressive, but looked boring otherwise, it needed fatalaties and a dragon punch or two If 360 had the franchises I'm used to, I'd run out and get one. ARPRINCE
Well, it's not exactly on purpose... Think about it. The final hardware structure for the 360 until about August (the betas were shown at E3, but those weren't final). So they had from August to November to get as many as they could produced and distributed (not a lot of time at all). This is compounded when you consider that this is a completely new custom chip...there are ALWAYS manufacturing issues with new chip dyes, and they process is constantly refined over the first few months to reduce/eliminate dud chips coming off the line (the dud factor is always high at the beginning of manufacturing of a new chip). This is I guess the main reason why you have those overheating, game freeze, and other problems some users are encountering with the unit. As a matter of fact, Microsoft already had support articles in their website prior to launching the unit. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;907588 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;907586 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;906652 Also, ever wondered why the unit came with a microsoft offer for a 2 year extended warranty? Makes me really ponder. But all is well for me until I get any of those problems so I'm knocking on wood. I would most likely get the extended warranty too before the 90 day basic warranty is over. Well I anticipated it and it did happen. Last friday, my unit froze so I turned it off and on again. Then I got the dreaded 3 red lights on the ring of light which meant that the unit was encounterting a hardware error or something. Tried the MS troubleshooting article but it did not work, the unit is dead. I called MS support and will send me a box to return the unit for a fix/replacement. And it had to happen on a weekend..bummer!
dblue
Bummer! Yeah, I know a few people who this has happened to...I'm glad mine is still running (knock on wood). I did get one from the second wave, so hopefully no problems.

meagain
Our local Costco has the 360. As I was standing there for a mere few minutes, 2 units were grabbed. I was curious about the sound quality with this. I'm anticipating it to be lower quality than my Denon 2900 DVD/DVD-A/SACD... Is my assumption wrong? Klipsch_Geek
I have had mine since launch day, because I am a gadget and video game nut along with being a Home Theater geek. I like it alot, mostly because it is hassle-free (unlike the last few PC games I played). I also use it to stream music to my Home Theater (for parties, not for serious listening) and it works well for that purpose. The only fault I have is with compressed music in general, not with the XBox streaming. Overall, games that have come out are good and show the promise of the hardware, and compared to what you have to spend on a good graphics card now days, the XBox 360 isn't that bad of a price. Also remember, the Atari 2600 retailed for $199 in 1977 dollars.

ARPRINCE
My local costco (NJ) have them on sale too now for the past 2 weeks on a pallet. Have not sold out so far so I guess the saturation point has been reached and the unit is now more available. BTW, PS1 launched 1995 retailed for $299. PS2 launched 2000 retailed for $299. So PS3 launching 2006 will also retail for $299 (but multiply it by 2)? hehe
