The diaphragm's voice coil might be rubbing or there might be gunk in the gap.

You can take out the diaphragm, clean the gap and reinstall the diaphragm and be sure it is centered to avoid rubbing.

If that doesn't fix it then maybe you do have a bad diaphragm.

Pry gently under the edge of the back cover. It is sticking to the rubber magnet cover.

After you get that off you will need to disconenct the wires running to the diaphrams. Be sure to note which goes where.

Then you have three more screws holding on the loading caps/diaphragm down.

Don't let the magent in the driver pull a screwdriver through your diaphragm.

unless i'm missing something, i can't take this thing apart any further. i disconnected the wires, removed the top plate, i see the aluminum diaphragm and it's plastic holder thing. i took the diaphram along with its platic frame out and now i'm down to an orange hump in the middle of the magnet.

The orange hump is 'tangerine'.... that is the phase plug.

Clean the gap and reinstall the diaphragm. To clean the gap use a piece

of tape folder over a small piece of heavy paper and push it into the

gap and pull it straight back out. Move around the gap until you have

completed the circle doing that. Gunk in the gap will stick to the

tape. Don't pull the tape around in a circle in the gap... that tends

to pull off some of the adhesive which can stick in the gap and cause

problems.

Reinstall/center the diaphragm and try it again. If you still have distortion place the order with Great Plains.

Nice.

may I ask where you got the drivers? GreatPlainsaudio sells them i know but a guy on Ebay from Georgia has unloaded a bunch of them lately. Wondered if you got them from him.

Is the version a A,B,C or T?

Also is it 8 ohms?
