SilverSport
You got them??? That's excellent...I am betting you will hear sweet (sweeter with new crossovers but I am sure you can listen to them as they are for a bit) music...you just went to the head of the class for Heritage anyway. Congratulations on your new obsession. Bill
Jeff Matthews
I bet you have no idea. [] It should sound awesome. I'm not familiar with the HPM 1500's (I used to have HPM 100's), but you might want to not have them in the system with your KHorns. They might drag it down. If you like earbleeding levels, the KHorns will rip!
jcmusic
Thanks Bill, I had a chance to hear them the other day, they sounded pretty sweet then. I can not wait to get them hooked to my system and get off. Jay.
jcmusic
Jeff, I will not have the pioneer's in the system once i hook up the k-horns. Just so you know the 1500's were an oversea's model, the US model was the hpm 150's. Jay.
Myhamish
That's a list of some outstanding gear. Your Khorns will go to the top of that list. Some of your equipment is similar to mine (no Khorns here though, sigh!) Here are some of my thoughts. Even though, I've got the same EQ and had dbx processing equipment, after a while, I cut it out and left it all on bypass. Each unit added it's own bit of residual noise and coloration to the sound. So I play most of my systems with a fairly direct source to speaker path with no processing or tone controls. And then play with the placement in order to tweak the sound. Khorns have the most critical placement criteria and there's lots of info here on how to do that. I'd love to hear your setup. Congratulations. Jeff Matthews
Ditto what Myhamish says on the EQ. I used to have one many years ago, but after I married my Crown to my Cornwalls, I came to the conclusion that I really didn't need an EQ anymore. Now, I'm down to an amp, a pre-amp, a CD-player and a pair of speakers. I don't even bother with a tuner or the old cassette player. Just 3 components rock this place. jcmusic
Yea! Right on guys, I was thinking the same thing about the EQ. I very rarely use the tuner, it's just a match to my other Marantz equipment. As for as the the sound processing, with the coming of CD's and such that equipment is more for visual effects than processing. Jay.
Jeff Matthews
I know what you mean by having components remain in your system just for looks. I kept my Onkyo cassette and tuner in just because "why not?" When I disconnected everything to move it recently, I just never included these back into the system. I kind of like going with the bare bones - what you need and use. Huge racks full of stuff take up space. Also, I like to marvel at how 3 measley components can rock your socks off. Mighty Favog
I would also mothball that dbx 400 (the octopus) if you can. The fewer things in the overall path the better. The 3bx is easy to set too high and clip the amp (death to tweeters).
jcmusic
Yes tom, you are right about that. I only use the 3bx for fm radio. Jay.
