Preamps

Recommended Posts

It is largely a redundant devise that adds coloration and distoration for swtiching and matching convience. Still, most people still need and use them.....

LMAO! This is one of the funniest answers I have ever seen on here...

One of the most ridicules also! But hey bigger is better.

I still haven't heard a concrete answer regarding the ST-70 and the squeezebox digital music streamer. Digital and tubes? I know if I post this enough times somebody will answer. Do I need a preamp if the receiver has a volume control? Come on guys...

Clarence,

From the Slim devices website:

Audio outputs (general)

Digital and analog outputs

All RCA connectors are gold-plated

Volume control is provided for all outputs

Multiple outputs may be used at the same time

Analog RCA outputs

High fidelity Burr-Brown 24-bit DAC

Two dedicated linear power regulators for DAC and line-out stages

Full 6.0Vpp line-level signals

Signal-to-noise ratio: over 100dB

Total harmonic distortion: less than -93.5dB (0.002%)

No pre-amp needed. Wanted? that's a different question.[;)]

I could never do without a good linestage ever again.

Many of us old posters have used analog variable CD player output and

passive linestages; I never liked the congested soundstage and less

than lifelike realism.
