Well? Any opinions/comments? How does it stack up to the Denon AVR-4802? Which do you think is better and why.

Hmm...

I'm just wondering, have the RX-Vx200 receivers been released yet? The 1200 recently caught my attention. It seems like a better choice to me than the Denon 2802 and I would like to A/B them.

BTW Kain:

Personally, I would take the Denon 4802 over the Yamaha 2220. If the 2200 had front effects like the 3000 and the V1, then it might be a better choice. The Denon has features such as the adjustable crossover all the way down to 40 Hz (too bad it's universal), 7 channel output and it has more power (125x7 vs 100x6). However, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Smile.gif

The 2200 is scheduled for release in November. It doesn't have front effects channels like the 3000 or the adjustable crossover of the Denon.

The 4802 is IMO a far superior product. However, the 2200 is $1200 MSRP and the 4802 is $2400 MSRP. BIG difference in price and the features reflect that.

All and all, the 2200 is loaded with all the latest processing and looks to be a fantastic unit at the $1200 price point. It replaces the 1000 and among other improvements it adds an amp for 6.1 processing. The 1000 required an additional external amp.

Thanks guys. Smile.gif

But will there be a Yamaha RX-V3200? If so, how do you think that compares to the Denon AVR-4802?

For what it's worth, I bought the RX-V1200. I too was debating between Yahama and the equivalent Denon, and the factor that tipped the scale in favour of the former was the remote. It's quite possible the the high end Denon models have better remotes...

If there is going to be a 3200, it won't be coming out until March. That is when Yamaha is making their lineup changes. I'm thinking that if there is a 3200, it would be a step up from the 3000. The 3000 is a nice receiver, meaning the 3200 would be ever nicer. Biggrin.gif

I think the 3200 will consist of everything that's on the 3000 along with more decoders like DTS-ES and DPLII. It might even have an adjustable crossover, but we'll just have to wait and see. However, if you don't want to wait that long, I would suggest you stay with the 4802.

akhare:

The remotes that come with the Denon's are cheap, with the exception of the 4802 and the 5800. They are quite nice. So I don't think the remote should be a factor in deciding here.

All the RX-Vx200 models basically have the same features but different power outputs, right?

Secondly, are there any features that the RX-Vx200 models have that the AVR-4802 doesn't? And are there any features that the AVR-4802 has and the RX-Vx200 models don't?
