Wardsweb
I picked this bookcase up at Ikea during my last trip to Houston. It's from their Expedit line and works perfectly.

Check out their site and you will see several sizes. So you may only need to buy one large one. Unless, you want to space them around the room or something. Also comes in white, black, beech and birch.
RAPTORMAN
I have 2 of the the bigger version. Same color as yours. Before I bought it, I actually ask the guy from Ikea if a vinyl record would fit in it and he pulled out an actual 12 inch 331/3 to show me. I guess there's a few of us buying them for the same reason.[H]
Parrot
These Ikea shelves are quite nice. I went and got one yesterday. It is packed in three boxes and weighs 280 lbs. It's as easy as a SET amp to put together. Except for eight screws, it's all held together with wooden dowel pins.
Parrot
This is the bulk of my classical records. The last three sections on the bottom are ones I haven't played yet, and they'll get put in with the rest of the records as I listen to them. Parrot If I may suggest--What I did was nailed a sheet of very thin partical board on the back and it made it very sturdy, this way your vinyl will not touch the wall when you slide it all the way in as well[]
Parrot
Raptorman, Thanks. I did fasten it to the wall as Ikea suggests, so it's pretty solid. I'm not worried about the paint and I'm keeping the records flush to the front rather than pushed to the back anyway. CharlieBoy, Your three Expedits side by side look great. Mike Lindsey
Man, I'm jealous! That's a lot of nice record collections! I have about 600 albums, and bought the majority from 1978 - 1982, and paid retail for my whole collection (approx $4K). It will take me a lifetime to accrue the collections you guys have... Wardsweb
Hey Parrot, great minds think alike or maybe significant others. I didn't think anyone else had painted their room that shade of pink or is it salmon? I don't feel all alone anymore.
Parrot
Yeah, I get bored with off-white, same old same old, too. It's actually Ruby Amber, as mixed at Home Depot. The flash makes it look pinker than it is. In person the color is more like the part towards the bottom of the wall.

LarryC
Wardsweb, Where did you get your smaller 5-shelf CD rack? How many does it hold? Thanks! Nice setup! Larry
Parrot
With the recent thread slamming Ikea, I think it's worth mentioning again that their record shelf works great. It's stronger and better looking than most particle board furniture, stuff that I generally dislike. If you want something that does the job and is simple to assemble, and you don't want to saw boards and make one yourself, consider the Ikea. I'm seeing no shelf sagging whatsoever.
